Topic: RE: Quilt block swap, anyone?
Hi, Craftyangie!
You'll pick your own block pattern and make 12 of the same block, then when we swap, you'll keep one of your own blocks and get 11 different blocks from other swappers, so you'll end up with 12 different blocks for a quilt.
There are TONS of websites online with free block patterns or you can buy books of patterns, too.
And, NO, you do not have to be a pro--we are just quilting because we love it. I like the block making best also. I usually end up either machine quilting mine or sending it out to be quilted for me. The hand quilting takes forever and I am just NOT patient enough for that! LOL!
So, are you in? If so, I'll put you down. Just let me know for sure.

I would be interested in doing this. I have a question....Do you have to be a pro at this? I mean...I have been making blocks with a local quilting store for the past year. I haven't quilted yet, but love making blocks. My wonderful husband asks me when I am actually going to quilt something. Also, is there going to be a certain type if block assigned to each person? I think 3 months would be a good time to get them done....12 weeks...12 blocks. Just let me know.
Thanks...

HI,Mary!
I have you down
That's four so far--we only need 8 more that make a quilt

Teresa,
I've been looking for another excuse to buy more fabric what a perfect opportunity. (THough I probably have enough fabric for 50 quilts). Add my name to the list. Are we going to have a color theme at all?

Terri, I have you down, so we are three so far.
Mary and Soulflower, let me know if you change your mind. It's going to be lots of fun! But I can see how getting to the sewing machine might be a bit difficult immediately post op! LOL!
I'm keeping your names for the next block swap--maybe a fall swap

Hi Teresa,
I am not prepared at this time. I need to purchase a sewing machine after I move in April. I hope to get in on the next one.
PS. Thank you for inviting me over.

Oh, I want to play too! I'm having my surgery on Tuesday and don't want to commit to a date. Definately the next one!
What a dilema... wsl or quilting... quilting or wls. It's a hard choice.

I love to quilt and would like to be in the quilt block swap!! I bought myself a Little Gracie II quilter for Christmas. Now I just need to get a quilt finished so I can put it on there and quilt myself. I have always sent my quilts away to be machine quilted....doing it myself now could prove to be very interesting to start out with. I am scheduled for WLS on February 20th. I'm very anxious and yet a bit nervous too.
I didn't realize there was a quilting forum on here.
Wonderful idea!

The deadline of March 31st is not a problem. My surgery was last year. However, if anyone else prefers a later deadline that will be fine with me too.
Thanks,
Linda

Linda, I have you down.
Surgerygirl, let me know if a 3 month deadline would make a difference. I wouldn't mind moving the mailing deadline from March 31st to April 31st and those who have tax issues could just finish their blocks before it hits (or after if you can sew fast
) I hope you join us--it's going to be great fun!
Blessings,
Teresa
