Topic: RE: Hello!
Hi Marilyn.
I'm new here myself. I have been quilting for several years. I'm planning on making a quilt out of my "fat" clothes, so that I never forget. I'm not having the surgery until the spring, but am making plans.

Topic: Hello!
Hello Quilter friends,
I am new to this board and wish to say Hi. I am a newbie at quilting, but want this to be a thing I can do for a long time to come. Thanks for being her for us!

Topic: RE: Quilting Dilemma
Hi Joni,
I love reading this page also. I do some quilting, but I am in the learning stages. How ever I did make several baby quilts.
This addiction is better than food!!! LOL
Keep reading, but never give up Quilting!!!
Best Wishes,

Topic: Quilting Dilemma
You know, I joined a quilt guild a few months ago and have been trying to learn quilting. I have a huge quilting frame, a few quilt tops, batting, etc. Tons of fabric, etc. It took me a while to make a spot for the frame because it's so big, but I almost have it where I can load a quilt on it and start quilting. I also love making yoyos and do that while I watch TV sometime.
My big dilemma is....I discovered this website, yep, this one here, and all I seem to do is get on the message boards and email people.
Just what I need....another addiction!
Anyone else have this problem?
Topic: RE: 6 hour quilt
I don't have a cat now due to my severe allergies, but I used to have one years ago when I would sew my clothes. I would have the cardboard cutting board on the floor with my fabric laid out with the pattern paper pinned to it. My cat just loved the sound the paper made when he would run and leap onto it....sigh.
He loved to destroy, I mean "help," with all my crafts projects.
Topic: Hello fellow quilters! ;-)
Just wanted to pop in and say HOWDY from Massachusetts... I was up here sewing a block-a-month that I am like 3 months behind on, and thought I would jump in and say hello... I am itching to go on a fabric shopping spree, but then I look at my "stash" and just shake my head I have so much. But it is fun and I love it - thank gawd I work part time at a quilt store or else I would never be able to buy anything!
Happy Quilting everyone!!!!

Maybe a yo-yo quilt would be a fun project with circles cut from the clothes. Have fun!

Topic: RE: TIE QUILT
I washed the ties (even the silk ones) and pulled out all the stitching and ironed them. (This may be too obvious to mention, but I thought I was brilliant when I did it.) I used a printed foundation fabric that I got at JoAnn and used strips of the ties to make foundation pieced Fan blocks. I used the wide part of the tie for the rounded corner section and the narrower strips for the ribs of the fan. I used a neutral cotton for the larger curved piece. Then I did simple Crazy Quilt type embroidering along the borders of the Fans with the thinnest perle cotton.
Topic: RE: Shop Hop
I have seen a Shop Hop of sorts advertised in The Quilter Magizine. There are about 10 shops located in CA. I think I am lucky - we have 2 within 10 miles. One shop does a block of the month. Each month you go to her shop early - she closes the shop at 9:10 shart. You listen to new things that are in the store (items, new fabrics, new classes, etc.) You pay $5 for the first block with directions and fabric. You go the next month with the finished block and you get that month for free. So you could make a quilt for $5! I really like it.
You should look around closer - there might be some quilt shops closer than you think!
