Dianne,
I love the cutting part... such a stress reliever! However, last week, I dropped my cutter and my finger got in the way. Ooooh that smarted. I might work on my borders tonight. I have the backing waiting at the quilt shop, and it looks like I need to pick up the batting as well. I only have full size batting at home. I've asked to teach the Turning 20, and I have a tentative "yes." It's a big block and so much fun and quick. Though it's similar to those 6 hour quilts. It can be done in a day, but I think you need to put it down for a bit.

Hi Chris!
Quilting is a lot of fun. I really don't like the cutting cloth part. But I love sewing it together and then putting it on the frame and hand quilting. Just getting to the part that I can sit in front of the TV and create at the same time is very relaxing and satisfying for me. And of course, the finished product is the real joy.
I am always glad to meet/talk to a fellow quilter.
Keep it up!!
Dianne

I hope you had fun making it. I met Kaye Wood at the Quilt show in Chicago. Not anything like you see on tv. I had done her tumbling star quilt in a class. It's made with the star-maker 6. I still need to back it, applique it. I want it for a bedspread rather than a wall hanging.
My cats sometimes decide that it's time to snuggle when I am on the machine. But they MUST test all of my quilt tops for comfort/satisfaction.
Topic: A chain sort of project
I have gotten myself into a sort of chain, with not too many places to go. I need 6 people to send 2 6" squares of patriotic fabric to. This would result in each person possibly receiving 72 pieces of fabric to make a charm quilt. I would love to pass them on, but not without peoples' permission. Is anyone interested? In general, I don't even pass on chain emails. This seems more of a round robin to me. You are welcome to email me privately at [email protected]. I would need a home address to send them to.

Me too! My sister and I did major damage at a small town quilt shop in Alma, Michigan during our visit. We both decided to do a Turning 20 well actually adapted it to Turning 30... it's a quilt that uses 20 fat quarters. I have the borders to finish and then the top is done. It's wonderful! I've also been working on a hand-stitched 9-patch (foundation pieced) for the Milwaukee Soldiers' Home Sewing Circle. If my elbow weren't shot I'd still be working on it. It's turning out to be a lot of fun, except for the tendonitis.

Hi Carol!
I love to quilt. I also sew prom gowns for my daughter and made three dinosaur costumes for her senior class play. She keeps me busy. I recently finished a Friendship Star quilt. I am working on a Mountain Paths quilt now. Haven't gotten very far with this one. I am trying to finish a cross stitch tree skirt...very time consuming.
I am a Boston transplant. I have been sewing since I was 11...that would be 42 years.
I would love to see some pics of your art quilts. I have made many many quilts. but usually for gifts or for my children.
I too am glad to finally see some posters here.

Hi Diane!
I am a native California transplant by way of Berkeley, Corona del Mar, Philadelphia PA, Cleveland and Columbus Ohio areas and now in the Dallas Fort Worth area. We moved around a lot while I was growing up!
I LOVE to sew and have been sewing my own clothes, etc. since I was 8 (that would be 40 years ago!) I just started quilting last year and it is soooo much fun! The only problem was the need to build my stash so I could have a complete pallete of colors available for art quilts!
Right now I am working on a series of pillows for my living room that are from Kumiko Sudo's origami quilt books. Her designs are just gorgeous! I hope to start making art quilts by the end of the year!
Glad to see some posters here finally!
Hugs,
Carol
