Topic: RE: No quilters out there?
Hello Diana. I live in North Central Montana. I have been quilting for about 10 years. I have my consultation on November 19, 2003. I am nervous so my quilting keeps me busy. I would love if someone wanted to start a round robin or something. It would be wonderful to get with other quilters around our great nation. Good luck to everyone with before and after their surgeries. Trish

I am a self taught quilter. I tape Simply Quilts on HGTV which has been a valuable teacher. The JoAnne Fabrics store by my office is one of my favorite places. A number of employees know me by name and are excited about my surgery scheduled on 09/29/03. They have asked when they can expect to see me after the surgery. Quilting has given me a great deal of enjoyment. Good Luck Cindy

To Anna Marie I live in Crossville but travel to Knoxville quite frequently to take quilt lessons at JoAnne Fabrics. They have great teachers and are very helpful. They also have beginning classes for quilters. They have new classes each quarter and if you register by a certain date you can get 50% off on the class. Classes range from $25 - $40 without the 50% off. If you get a chance to go by there ask for Laurie Brobst and she can help you. Good Luck Kathy

Hi Diana, my name is Janeen and I live in Northern California. I don't know that I would call myself a quilter, that sounds so official, but I do love to create and quilting seems to be suited for me. I just finished a dresdon plate quilt that I will be using as a bedspred. I really am pleased with it. I hope I am as pleased with WLS. I have just started the process, again. I began 2 years ago, but as fate would have it, it was not the right time for me. NOW is the right time, so I march on toward a successful outcome this time. Wish me luck. I think the idea of a WLS quilt sounds wonderful. So which one of these quilters is going to orgranize it?

Hey I am here, just found this site and love it. I thought I was the only one that has had WLS the quilts. LOL I have only been quilting for about 5 years and I am not in the process of working on a aplique quilt my mom started before she died. It is so much fun and something I will treasure the rest of my life. I have lost 102lbs since 1/31/02, I have slowed way down on weight loss, almost to a stop. I was wondering if anyone else has done this? I still have about 50lbs to go to get to where I want to be. I don't know what I am doing wrong.... Maybe I can get some feed back on this from other quilters. I am active and all, doing more than I have been able to do in years. Sometimes tend to over do. I have a bad leg from cancer treatments of 28yrs. ago and then broke it in 96 and it swells alot but is better then it was before surgery. I still have to watch what I do with it and staying up on it alot bothers it some. Let me know what you all are working on. Maybe we could start a WLS patient RR. or something. Thanks Jackie

Topic: hi everyone!
Hi fellow quilters.... I am emailing to see if any of you might be willing to help me with a very special project! My 11 yr old son and I have been making memorial patch quilts to honor 9/11 for 1 1/2 yrs now. These are made out of fire/ems patches to honor those lost on 9/11. We have donated 2 quilts to date and I am currently working on the one going to the Pentagon when it is done. This is where I need help! I am a novice quilter and want to make something special on some of my 6X6 inch blocks that I am doing on the border of the quilt. I am looking for ideas. Our website www.members.cox.net/dinaj/ tell and show the quilts. Anyone up for a challenge? All our quilts are donated and paid for our of my own money,,, I am married to a medic and it hit home... esp living so close to the Pentagon. I am 7 months out from my rny 12/13/02 140 pounds gone forver! take care, Diane Currence

Hi, Diana, I am a quilter! I just found this option on the site. You are right,we take a perfectly good piece of fabric, cut it up into little pieces, and sew it all back together in a different order!LOL I love it! I am 50sh, in southwestern Ohio, 18 months out from wls, down 120lbs,currently held sown with a fractured foot, hope to be active soon! I've been quilting about 20 years, active on a couple online quilting sites. write when you can. Cathy

Hi, Diana. I'm Ruth. I live in southern California and am an addicted quillter, and I teach quilting. I've been losing a lot of quilting time reading this web site over the last few months = ) I'm waiting for my surgeon's office to send in my request to the insurance company. I'm getting ready to move and had a terrible time finding an apartment with enough storage space for my fabric and a big enough second bedroom for my studio! I promised my friends I would hire movers this time because they definitely did not want to move my fabric. The last time I moved they kept saying "and we thought your books were bad to move!" Lots of my quilting friends could use this surgery and I am sure that some of them will not be so supportive of what I'm doing so I won't be telling most of them. At least not until they ask how I'm losing all this weight.
