Today is the 1st time that I found this board. I have been quilting about 10 years and am very addicted. I belong to a church group that meets weekly during the school year and another larger group that meets monthly. One of my favorite quilting web sites is http://www.quiltersnewsnetwork.com/ they have great classes and loads of quilting info. I was banded 5/11/06. I'm still on the liquid diet but feeling great. Hi Nancy, Thank you for replying. I belong to a quilt club here in town. it is pretty fun. we meet once a month and I am hoping to learn from some of the quilters there. I had surgery on 6/24/05 I have lost 122 pounds I am 8 to 10 pounds from goal I cant seem to get rid of them. But I am happy were I am. I am off all meds and walk to and from work everyday. I work 1 mile + from work. I do feel alot better then I did before surgery. lately I have been kinda tired and not able to get up at 4 am to do my workout before work don't know what that is all about. maybe my iron is low. I go in next month for my year checkup. well keep in touch Hugs Kathy S.

Kathy, Yes, this is a very quiet quilting board. I am also new to this block. There's a Yahoo group called, "Stashbusters" that is a lot of fun and the ladies are there to help any time. You might want to check them out. I have been quilting for about the same length of time as you have - sort of. I started quilting back then but didn't do many. The "sickness" really set in about four years ago and my husband has come to accept the fact that there just is no cure for it. I am a long arm quilter and enjoy it so much. I have a short commute to work - 7 steps. I can quilt in my jammies and everyday is Casual Friday. Let's not give up on this board yet - I am hoping it will come alive again. Have you had your WLS? How are you doing? Blessings, Nancy

I have been a member of OH for about a year. this is the first time I have visited this board. I have been quilting for about 20 years but have always done my own thing. I desided it was time to learn the correct way of quilting. so I bought books for piecing and I am finding out I love it. I have a hard time getting my corners to match but heck they are pretty anyway. this is the first quilting board I have been on and it is very quite. if anyone has any suggestions as to other boards I would love to hear them. I would like to learn as much as possible about quilting. Hugs Kathy S.

Ok, I have everyone's blocks except Mary Freeman and I'm now trying to determine if she's actually swapping with us or if I have her name in my address book from other OH related emailing...I'll email her personally and ask her about it. If I've goofed and she's not swapping, then we have only 11 blocks total. I guess if we want a 12 block quilt, everyone will have to make one more block themselves--so the quilts really WILL be different I chose a block for Thanksgiving (the Turkey Giblet) to express how excited I am about what I'll be looking like by then, which will be my year surgiversary...so I guess if I have to make an additional block then I'll find a little piggy pattern to remember what I looked like BEFORE surgery ;O) Anyway, I'll check into this and let everyone know what I find out. Blessings, Teresa

Thanks for the welcome! This is the quietest quilting group I have ever seen. What is everyone working on? I, for one, am working on the fourth quilt top for our bedroom. The first one I did was in Thimbleberries fabrics and my dh's comment was "it's too dark". The second one was done in Kansas Troubles fabrics and it was, according to him, "even darker". (That's okay because that one is really for the camper anyway.) The third one was in 30's reproductions and his comment was, "Well, you have gone to the other end of the gammet with that one." This one is it. I don't care what he says. It is done in Moda's Maison d'Noel that was out last year. It's gonna be gorgeous and red is my favorite color so it's gonna work out best anyway. Well, off to the psych's office for my third and (I hope) final appointment. Today I get to find out how many personalities they found with last week's inventory.

Welcome Nancy I had my WLS 12/17/04... I was 240 pounds and I am now 133 pounds and at my Dr.'s goal weight for me. I started quilting a year ago, and I am hooked. Good Luck, Martha

Okay, I am way new to this WLS stuff. It something that I have thought about for some time but have just recently started to persue it. My thought was that I would use piecing to counteract eating urges. I was amazed when I found that there was a group of quilters on line that not only would share my passion for quilting but my "un-growing pains" as I go down this road. I sure hope I can find my niche here. Nancy
