Topic: Quilting Question
Hi All,
I had my WLS 12/17/04 and I have lost 102 pounds, and have 3 pounds until I'm at my goal weight.
About a year ago I toke a quilting class and I have been hooked every since. Here is my question......I am about to get a long arm quilting machine and frame, here at home. I am looking for any info or help on picking one. My guest bedroom is going to be my quilting room.
Please let me hear your 2 cents on this.

Hi, Bobye and Jacquelyn! Ok, I'm going to have to check that spelling, I'm sure that's not right!
I have you both down and that puts us up to 7!
It looks like it's time to pick colors so you guys can get going...I LOVE the idea of a tan or white on white background. I prefer tans because it should give us more variety of shades AND it's easier to keep clean
I was thinking about just saying a blanket "country calicos" for the colors, which really will open it up and give us all plenty of wiggle room. That would leave out the dark and bright colors and would limit us to small prints and/or florals, but we could still pick just about any color--in a country shade. This should give us a nice variety for this scrappy quilt--just stay away from anything too bright or anything that might stick out liek a sore thumb when put together with the rest of the blocks.
Unless someone just hates this idea, let's go with it.
Remember block size is 12 1/2" by 12 1/2" unfinished so when we sew them all together, we'll have 12" blocks. I'm so glad we're getting this going! I've been wanting to do this for so long! Only 5 more to join and we'll have a full group!

I was wondering! Do you think we should have a color/colors to choose from? Maybe everyone use a tone on tone white, tan as the background, or black with bright colors. Just a suggestion. I don't want to stomp on anyones toes.

Sign me up! This will be a wonderful excuse to use some of my stash. I need a project like this. My mind is whirling for the blocks, maybe a whirlygig block? My husband and I are going through a divorce and sellling our house, but I promise I'll squeeze in some quilting time.

Me! Me! Me! I'm so happy to see this forum being used!! What colors do we have to use? JoAnn's is having a big sale this weekend, but of course I have enough fabric to have a sale this weekend too.
This is a challenge, but I think since I'm still recovering I can crank out 12 blocks by the deadline with a little commitment and not much sweat! I taught a friend how to quilt at Christmas, she will be really interested in what we are up to. Who knows, she has been talking about WLS since I've had mine, maybe she'll join us.
I'm dancing about this idea!! I've got to get busy...my sewing machine will be so happy to see me! Thank you!
Blessings,
Jacquelyn

Alrighty, gotcha down, Craftyangie!
That makes 5 of us so far...I've been reposting the notice every now and then on the main board to let others know we are here. I'm also emailing a few people who have indicated an interest in quilting AND have been active on the board recently.
Here's the list so far:
Me--QuiltinWilson
Linda in Tigerland
Terri Wolf
Mary F.
Craftyangie
I'd better start looking at patterns--I think we're actually going to have a swap!!! Woo-Hoo!!!
