Ok I know this may sound stupid but do hospitals really hire nurses that are obesite? I am a new RN and got my current job as an industral nurse when a friend told someone I was graduating from nursing school. I talked to my boss on the phone and she hired me from the phone call site unseen. Now I want to work part time at a hospital on my days off. Thank you for any information you could give me.

Hey Dawn, there are LOTS of nurses that are obese. That will not stop you from getting a job. As with everything you may not start out with the job you want, but you have to start somewhere. If you don't get into some kind of acute setting you will lose the skills you went to nursing school for, IMHO. Where in IN are you? I worked at Deaconess in Evansville for 2 1/2 years years after I finished nursing school. They also pay for the RNY with little to no hassle. Good luck and let me know how things go. 5'6" HW 250 tight size 24 jeans SW 235 CW 157-160 size 6 jeans Surgeon GW 165 Mine 154?? "normal BMI"
