I'm a bad girl!
I cannot believe it's been almost 2 months since I have posted to this board. And I was the one trying to get everyone involved to make it more active. I guess I just got wrapped up in the Michigan board. Anyway...since I last posted, I have been approved! I had my orientation class, met with the surgeon, and completed all of the pre-op requirements except one (I've lost 9 of the 15 pounds he asked me to). I have a little under 2 weeks to lose the other 6 pounds, but I'm having a really hard time sticking to the diet the dietician gave me (upon my request). I did fine at first, but it's getting harder to stick to because it's so strict and getting boring. Here it is:
4 Protein shakes
1 milk
1 fruit
2 veggies
Healthy Choice dinner
(850-950) calories/day
While the protein shakes are good, I'm getting tired of them. And I will have to drink them, and only them, a week before surgery and then for a couple months after. It's only been 3 weeks now. I have about 3 more months to be drinking them...ugh. Anyway, enough whining...I promise to post more often. Would like to get to know some of you better.

Thanks for sharing the diet! I am going to give it a try. I have one week, and 4 more pounds to lose. I have been working out at the gym doing weights 3 days a week, and trying to get there to do the treadmill every day. I am so nervous about if I got all the weight off my surgeon wants me to lose. What is your surgery date?

Mary,
For protein shakes have you tried Unjury. This protein drink has 20 grams of protein, 3g carb per scoop. I personally love the vanilla. I use that with milk. Unjury has 3 flavors: Vanilla, Chocolate and Unflavored. I think their website is www.unjury.com. One of our post op support groups members buys it in bulk and sells it to whomever for a lower price. I am 1 1/2 weeks post op and doing very well. Hope this information helps you.

I'm impressed. I couldn't do that rigorous of a diet without the help of surgery. I was just wondering though, aren't you worried that you might get totally burnt out on the shakes before you have the surgery, and that's when you NEED them. I would, but I am impressed with your dedication. I'm glad I am not required to lose before surgery. I did hear that it's really bad to have a night-before-surgery pig-out. I will probably do that a couple nights before and just have liquids or soups the day before. Anyone else have any thoughts about that?
