EDEMA OF UNKNOWN ETIOLOGY

I'm nearly 3 years post op DS, down to 189 lbs from 304. I'd like to loose more, but can't complain, anything is better than 304! My only complaint is that I have moderately severe edema of my trunk to my ankles! This started January 2003. I've been on Lasix 40 mg QD po since June 2004, and increased that to BID just 2 days ago. My PCP is very supportive, but can't figure out why I have this. My labs --especially serum albumin--are fine. I take supplements religiously. My surgeon thinks that it's my former fat cells holding fluid. Sorry guys, I just can't buy that one! Anybody have any experience with similar problems? I'm 52, so PMS and TOM are out of the picture. TIA. Susan in NYC

Tia, Dang, that dosen't sound like fun, sorry you are going thru that. I have no idea what that could be. Maybe make an appt. with and endocronologist, maybe it could be the lumph system. Let me know what you find out. Good luck.

Have you seen a cardiologist or had a workup for that? Just a thought. Hope all goes well for you! Good luck!

Hi Susan, Its been a month since you posted and I was just wondering if you had any answers yet? I hope whatever it is has resolved... or at least getting better. You're in my prayers. Wanda
