Young, not a chance....turn 47 this year. Just got home from doing 4 12's....really saving up for when I'm off. We are getting high occupancy pay right now, so with all the OT, W/E option pay and the HOIP I went to HR and changed my W-4 to married with 10 dependents for 2 months....My paycheck for those 115 hours was $2300 Hot Damm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I'm off for 2 days and then go back for 4 more 12's, not sure after that.

You really sound driven to meet your goals Good 4 U. What is the salary where you live? I work 3 12's and bring home 1800 intwo weeks ao If I worked 1 xtra shift I would bring home that 2200. Maybe you should move to Phila or NY to increase your salary> Good luck with all that OT sweet dreams Joanne

We did find out we are geeting a "market adjustment" in Aug, $1.20 hour across the board for all direct care RN's. I know my pays not great, but can you rent a house with a garage and basement for $470 a month? Also there are 5 nursing schools within a 50 mile radius of where I work. Turn over is high, the new grads get a couple years under their belts they leave to travel. Not that I blame them, why bust your ass for less than $20/hr when you can bust your ass for twice as much. Hubby starts nursing school this fall, so that's our plan in a few more years.
