Hello fellow nurses

I am so excited to see a message board for nurses here on OH !! My name is Pam and I am a critical care nurse in Portland, Maine. I am getting ready to have lap band surgery. I just started the process, have done the initial consult, psych eval and new patient orientation. I am looking forward to getting the rest of the required steps behind me and getting to the surgery date. I have no idea when that will actually be but I am hoping really hard for June 21 or 22. I go on vacation from work June 21 and will be out for 11 days so it would work out great. I look forward to making all sorts of new nursing friends here. Pam

Welcome Pam. Does your insurance pay for the LapBand? Good luck on getting your surgery that soon. I started in Jan and still don't have a date but am hoping for June/July.

Hi, Pam I'm a critical care nurse in Phoenix, AZ. Hoping for lap band next month, also. I'm sending in my insurance paperwork today, and see the surgeon on Friday. I'm hoping for June, also. I haven't had the psych, nutrition or any of the other specialties yet, the surgeon's office schedules those. Keep us posted on your journey! I am a L&D nurse in New Mexico. Just had Lap BAnd surgery in Mexico on May 19th. So far so good 18 lbs in 2 weeks. I know once I am eating more solid foods again that will not be typical. Good Luck.

Hi Pam, I just found this board today and am also delighted to find a place for just nurses. I had my lap rny on May 2nd. I've lost only 26 lb.s so far , so I guess I'll be a slow loser but I AM losing! I am a forensic psych nurse in NV. L&D was always my passion but things just didn't happen that way.
