Happy Nurse's Week to all of us who work long hours, many 12 hour shifts in a row and often are too tired to do much else. I am happy to be associated with all of you especially at this time in my life. I have been a critical care/emergency RN for 23 years. I am really surprised that I even made it that long. But I digress, to all of you men and women in the nursing field I tip my hat to all of you . Huggs, Karen

Right back at ya'll. I worked all but 2 days of it, LOL. What did ya'll get? We got donuts, a cup of freee coffee and a coffee cup with the name of the hospital on it. Wow, I'm under impressed.

Hi Sandra, I am so under impressed with our gift from our Administration. I received a very small bag with a candle and lotion. So now I can have soft hands. Can you believe it???!!! Take care Sandra!! And never work tooo hard. Huggs, Karen

We did also find out we are getting a market adjustment in Aug of $1.20/hr. That means nurses at the "other hospital" make more than we do. But I wouldn't go there unless they paid a whole bunch more than I make now.

Sandra, We got nothing. In fact, worse than nothing, we got a low productivity talk! How's that for a raspberry? Thanks be that our reward comes not from our employers but from our patients. Sandie

Happy Nurses week to you too Karen!! We are not getting anything from our hospital (nothing new though). They did some sort of nursing excellence award for about 25 nurses but there are over 800 nurses where I work and we got told "hey, your units are responsible". I work in the ICU and we got chicken marsala and salad delivered to the unit at 9:00pm which was cold and gross and since I am trying to lose 15 lbs before surgery pasta was not an option. Whatever happened to the days of at least a coffee mug or even a personal, look-you-in-the-eye kind of thank you from administration?? What a shame. We all feel like warm bodies on the schedule there to fit their needs these days. I certainly hope that you all had at least recognition on this week for what you all do so well. Pam
