I have a tentative surgical date for September 14, 2005 (Lap RNY). I've already researched thoroughly, read extensively, and surfed the night away... (I like to be informed). Anyway, for those who have already had their surgery, what would you like to have known before hand that you didn't know? What advice would you give for preparation for the first days at home? What do I need to have on hand when I go home? Thanks!

Congrats Teana, I'm probably not the right person to give advice. I have had no complications, no n/v, only took my lortab elixer the first 2 h.s. "just in case". I haven't had any problems at all, a little tired but that is it. Good luck, and take off work all you can afford, LOL HW 250 SW 235 CW 206 GW 150

Hi Teana, I am post-op RNY 19 months. I would have liked to have seen the dietary plan before surgery so that I could plan. Have clears liquids at home and any other needs on your food plan. Every physician is different and you need to know your plan. Follow the exercise plan and stick with it. Take naps whenever you want. Stay home as long as you can. I think return to work depends on your job. You might want to have some gauze pads incase your wounds have some drainage. I have to admit, I had no complications and never vomit. Just stick to the plan and get rest. Your emotions are sometimes all over the place. Good Luck Robin hw: 345 sw: 308 cw: 133
