Nursing Diagnosis RNY
Hey everyone! I have found myself on a unit w/ Bariatric patients while I am in Nursing School. It has been a rewarding experience for me to help care for these patients knowing that I am going through the procedure in a few months!
I need some help with Nursing Diagnosis for a freshly post-op RNY patient. Any thoughts? I have a few ideas, but wanted to pick everyone's brians!
Thanks!
Holly
Maybe to late but here goes...
Impaired mobility r/t decreased range of motion from new surgical incision
Impaired nutritional status r/t inability to ingest solid foods
Potential for dehydration r/t decreased fluid intake
Impaired body image r/t new expectations of self post op
Pain, actual r/t recent surgical intervention
Oh gosh I could go on and on! I have been an RN for 14 years! How I loved all the Bull S@%# of nursing school! I use to write so many of these crazy nursing dx that my instructors would tell me to stop!
Let me know what you came up with and how your care plan did!
Jen
Jen -
Thank you!
Yup - Can't STAND care plans - we are finally learning "Care Maps." My instructor insists they are less work - I am leary of that statemnent
I ended up w/ Pain, actual r/t recent surgical procedure
Risk for Infection r/t incisions from recent surgical procedure
Impaired mobilty r/t ??? Can't remember what I put for that one right now!
I like yours a lot!! I will have to keep them "bookmarked" for later use
I handed it in last week - still haven't gotten feedback. My clinical instructor is a perfectionist "B****"!!! So I am keeping my fingers crossed.
Thank you for replying to this post!!!

Hi Holly
I have been looking everyday to see if you would read my post! I am so glad you did!
Anytime let me know if you need any help, I can make it up in an instant...LOL
It is evaluation time at work and my manager always looks foward to reading all the BS I write to get a raise! If you cant praise yourself who can?
Jen
Jen!! You are awesome!!
Don't be suprised if I drop you an e-mail from time to time about all this nonsense!!
I was in the OR yesterday & minor surgery today. I give those nurses A LOT of credit. Especially the Scrub nurses in the OR - I swear they must have mindreading capabilities!! (Wonder if that is a job requirement??)
RE: Raises - As long as the BS is working - keep it up!
And while you're at it - just take your right hand - put it on your left shoulder and give yourself a pat!! Heck - you deserve the praise
Thanks again!
Holly
