Topic: New Yahoo group for Nurses who have/are having WLS
I started a yahoo group for health care professionals- nurses and others- who have had or are having WLS. I enjoy this site, but I want a place where we can speak more openly and candidly- this simply isn't that venue in my mind- its too public, we need aplace for just us nurses..... So email me if you want to join!!!!

Jen!! You are awesome!! Don't be suprised if I drop you an e-mail from time to time about all this nonsense!! I was in the OR yesterday & minor surgery today. I give those nurses A LOT of credit. Especially the Scrub nurses in the OR - I swear they must have mindreading capabilities!! (Wonder if that is a job requirement??) RE: Raises - As long as the BS is working - keep it up! And while you're at it - just take your right hand - put it on your left shoulder and give yourself a pat!! Heck - you deserve the praise Thanks again! Holly

Can't remember what I put for that one right now! I like yours a lot!! I will have to keep them "bookmarked" for later use I handed it in last week - still haven't gotten feedback. My clinical instructor is a perfectionist "B****"!!! So I am keeping my fingers crossed. Thank you for replying to this post!!! Holly

Mary K - Thanks for the input. You must be doing a BSN program. I was 30 credits shy of my BS in Biology - and decided I really wanted to become an RN - so I started an Associate's program. I am in semester 2 of 4. It is much more challenging than any other work I have done thus far (including Organic Chemistry!!!) Truly - Thanks for the input. Didn't realize one could "dump" on aspartame - good thing to note. My date got changed to 12/27 because of the holiday. I have been able to observe patients and help care for them on the floor I am at in the hospital. It has been a great opportunity to realize what to expect post-op!! Good luck with school!! Holly

Hi Holly, I just had my Lap RNY 8/2/2005 and the recovery wasn't bad. I just didn't realize that I "dump" from aspartame and sugar alcohols very badly. I think my recovery would have been quicker if I had just realized that I was "dumping" and it wasn't all in my head. I am in nursing school as well and that is one of the reasons I am glad that I got the surgery out of the way before starting school. Although I don't start the clinical part until next fall, the considerations that nurses posted are good ones. Please let us know how your surgery goes and I wish you the best of luck. Mary K

I had my Lap RNY in February. I felt pretty good within a week and was up and walking at the mall (slowly) within 48 hours after discharge from the hospital. Take it easy and rest when you body tells you to. Get your protein in and keep hydrated and keep moving when possible. Basic nursing 101. Best wishes with your upcoming surgery. I am so glad that I had it done, I would never want to go back to the way it used to be! Diana
