Topic: update from VA
Hello everyone: A lot has been going on since my first and only posting. I got the diet history done,( a real struggle) then I had my initial visit at the surgeon's office. The RD was first. Then, the PA, who did a "physical" and gave me a list of pre-op tests to have done. I go back for a colonoscopy Aug. 8th. Still waiting for word about insurance approval ! Love to all, Sharon
Topic: RE: Sandra T., How are you doing?
I've been doing great, thanks for asking.
I have only had 1 incident when some mayo made me feel quite bad for a couple hours and other than that no problems. A little tired every now and then, but that's expected after major surgery.
Went out of town this w/e and even went "out" to eat twice. Just picked off hubbies plate. Had a chicken select from MickyD's, was a little worried since it's fried but was OK. I'm sure I don't need fried foods but you can't always get what you want, LOL.
I go back to work next Wed. Could have probably at 2-3 weeks I felt so good, but my short term disibility approved for 6 weeks and that's what I'm taking, LOL
So how is the new job going Caryl? Hope you can get your surgery soon.
Congrats on the wedding and how is hubby doing since his surgery.

Sandra,
I've been wondering how you're doing since you're last update. When are you going back to work?
Caryl
Topic: RE: Diet History
It depends on your insurance and you will need to find out if they need documentation from a doctor.
My insurance didn't require it, but my surgeon asked. I just wrote out my best recollection of dates and amounts lost and regained and it was fine.
There are several Dr. Elariny patients posting on the DS board. You should stop by.

Topic: Diet History
Hi' I'm a RN who has never liked to be a Patient! Now, at last I'm facing my morbid obesity problem, and have decided to do something about it! W/O going into all the details(which you can imagine) I need to do a diet history as part of the pre-op approval process for insurance . However, I always tried on my own all the different diets, since I didn't want to go to a doctor for help. Is this going to fly on my diet history? I am VERY discouraged as I face this obstacle. Thanks for your suggestions.
Topic: scheduled
Hi It was great to find a message board for nurses. :clap I have been a nurse for 24 years and battleing my weight for twice as long. I am scheduled for lap rny on the 25th of this month.
I am using GW University in Washington DC. I am planning on being out of work for 2 weeks we shall see. I am a research nurse for breast cancer so I don't have any heavy lifting etc. to do. It's mainly admin and lab work. Look forward to more posts. Take care and good luck to all the pre and post ops
