Topic: surgery on one week
Hello All. I am very glad to have found a board for nurses. I am one week pre-op. I am not nervous actually I am getting really restless in the waiting. I work at the hospital where I am having my surgery so this should be interesting. Actually, I will have to go to my own unit post-op cause we are the unit that takes care of the post op GBP patients. I am so happy that when I return to work I will be able to totally relate to my patients. I am also the preop patient instuctor at our facility and on the Bari. Com. I have been doing the teaching for over 4 yrs. Ok I am rambling...Sorry God Bless and see ya all on the losing side...Kellie A

Topic: I'm home
Just wanted to let you know I'm home and doing great. Got home on 6-23. No pain, some aches, tired and bloated but otherwise doing great. Too hot to walk outside right now, but moving around the house.
Will update soon.
Thank you all for your support.

Pam
Walk, walk, walk, walk, walk to move the gas downward. The sore abdomen was to me, the least of the pain. I had a whole lot more problem with the gas from the laparoscopyic surgery. I also used towels heated in the microwave for 1.5 mins and then draped over my upper abd. I reasoned that it not only increased comfort but sped healing. Rest isn't a bad thing.
I'm glad you're ok. And, I think you will love what the band does for you. Did the surgeon add any fluid post-op?
Hugs
Sandie

Topic: Home again and very sore
Hey there to all!!
Well, my lap band is in and I am back home again. It has been a rough 36 hours but it is over now. I am very sore but happy to be home. Anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with the left shoulder pain after lap surgery??? I am told it is normal because of the CO2 they use to fill the abdomen during the surgery but man oh man does it hurt like heck. It is worse than my belly. Will take any advise you can offer.
Hugs to you all,
Pam G

Topic: RE: Hello fellow nurses
Hi Pam,
I just found this board today and am also delighted to find a place for just nurses. I had my lap rny on May 2nd. I've lost only 26 lb.s so far , so I guess I'll be a slow loser but I AM losing! I am a forensic psych nurse in NV. L&D was always my passion but things just didn't happen that way.
