Congratulations!
You are in for one very tough, but amazingly rewarding ride! The next couple of years may have you doubting your sanity
, but when school's over, and you are in the "real" world, you will be so glad you did it!
Any idea what field of nursing you want to go into? Good luck!

Topic: Accepted to the RN program!!
Yay!! I got my letter on Saturday that I was accepted to the RN program at our community college. The administrator said it was the most competitive year she's ever seen. There were 300+ applications and only 70 seats. Now if Microbiology doesnt kill me this summer...I might make it!!!

Sorry you're not feeling well.
I feel for you with JCAHO coming in less than a month. We just had our site review in Jan. by our accrediting body, CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities). Fortunately we came through with flying colors. I pray the same will happen with you. Hey but at least now you won't have to worry about the upcoming inspection while you recoup, cuz it will already be done!!
Today at work I am holding a focus group with my nurses to determine the role of the midshift nurse. I added a new shift a few months back that comes in mid-morning 11 am to 7:30 pm. The purpose was to help the dayshift nurses with admissions and to provide better customer service. Now the nurses are bickering with each other about what this midshift nurse is responsible for. I try not to be a dictator, so this focus group is to give them a voice. If they cannot come to any reasonable solutions, however, then it will come down to what I decide. They may not like that.
Wish me luck.
The coincidences just keep on rolling in. I plan on going to a support group that my surgeon's office has organized. It is held the 3rd Thursday of every month, so tomorrow is the day. Hope to find out some more interesting info. They are holding a contest for one of the members to name the support group. My surgeon will decide which name he likes best out of all the entries. Don't know what the winner gets. Free surgery would be nice
Anyhoo, they have guest speakers. Tomorrow is supposed to be some kind of physical therapist. I'll let you know how it goes.
No, I do not have an angel yet. HEY
....maybe we could be each other's angels. You don't have to be in the same state. That would be cool. Let me know what you think about it.
Hope you get over your cold soon. Drink some tea with honey. You'll feel better. Hopefully you can
that nasty bug.

Hey Girl!
How are things going? Guess what I found out yesterday? Jcaho is coming the week of March 7th!!!! Can you believe that? A WHOLE month early
! I have met someone thru the messageboard who lives close by (Warner Robins). She is having to travel out of state for her surgery. She is scheduled a week before us--3/1. We have also found a local support group called the "Mini Me's"
. She went tonight. I didn't go because for the 2nd time in 2 weeks because I have a nasty cold and am not feeling well--and I got my flu vaccine!! Has anyone volunteered to be your angel? Noone has for me. Maybe someone will volunteer before our big day!! Good to talk with you again!

Nancy,
You are right!! SO mu*****ommon--weird huh?
I am to trying hard to accomplish all of my "duties" before 3/3/05. I preop 3/3 and will spend the weekend cleaning, packing, making last minute purchases etc and have my son's birthday party! ARGGG!! We mom's have soooo much to do! Also JCAHO is visiting my facility in April. I am also suppose to have lap RNY. I am going to stay out 3-4 weeks--depending how I feel. (I've got to be back by the 1st week of April for the JCAHO visit. On our mock survery my team hid--can't imagine them without me to back them up!!
And, believe it or not--my hospital is under going magnet certification--they'll be there 3/15-18--so I've been busy getting ready for that too!!) I have heard that you get really tired after week four ("hibernation syndrome") have you heard that? My 19yo will be on spring break that week also--she'll be a big help! How awesome to have you for a surgery sister and buddy!! I am so glad you contacted me again.
I feel like we were put in each others lives for support and friendship! Look forward to hearing from you soon!!
