Topic: RE: RN Salaries?
I started out at $12/hr fresh out of nursing school in St. Louis back in 1987. I was making $25/hr when I left in 1993. More for nights, overtime, weekends, etc. I hope the salaries have gone up more than that! Is Lebanon a small town?

Topic: RE: Hey! I'm a Newbie and could use some advice...
I educated my Primary. As I learned, so did he. I first started looking at surgery as an option in November and he wasn't much help at all.
I see my PCP once a month. My last visit was yesterday and he agreed that the DS was the best choice for me to lose the most weight with the fewest side effects. In 3 months, he knew much more about the surgeries.
He hasn't had a wls patient, even though he is a gastroenterologist. He picked up coverage of a RNYer in the hospital a few weeks ago.
So... my advice would be to find journal articles and look around the different groups and forums for good, concise information to back up your decision and share it with her.

Topic: Nurses as Patients
Aren't we the worst?
I try to be nice, but some of my worst patients have been nurses.
I always find it interesting to be on the other side of the rails (or the bedpan.) It certainly is educational!
Anywhoooo... my surgery is coming up in just a few weeks. I've been told I will have an NG, JP, and a J-tube. I've been promised that I will NOT have to be on a vent. That's my biggest fear. I used to work respiratory nursing and ughugh! I don't want that. They'd better drug me silly if they do it.
The NG will be uncomfortable, but I can do it. The drains won't be a bother. Nausea sucks, but the NG should help with that a bit. This isn't a teaching hospital, so I won't be dealing with interns and residents at all hours.
*crossing heart* I promise to TRY being the perfect patient.

Here's my happy a$$. Half the time when I click on this forum at the bottom left of my pages, it doesn't work.
Then, when I get here there isn't much going on. I guess if we want an active board, we need to start posting.

Topic: scrubs for sale
I have several scrubs for sale in good shape, sizes range from XL -2X
Good condition some have only been worn a couple of times. I started a new job and they only want blue and white, so my closet is full.
I would take 3.00 each and you pay shipping.
If interested let me know.
thanks

STAY AWAY FROM MISSOURI
New grads start out 14.00-17.00 hour
If you are seasoned with 10+ years you will make around 20.00-25.00 an hour. Yes there are the weekend end specials and the night shift diff. but not as good as other states. And the patient nurse ratio can be hell here too.

I didn't know about it. I've been an RN for 31 years now. I'm no longer working but my license is still good, if I decide to go back. There should be an automatic retirement after 30 years, but unfortunately there isn't, so...I'm broke. I'm still pre op---scheduled for April 13th after a postponement due to medical problems. Now that I know about it, I'll keep checking back.
