Hi Heather, Just out of curiosity were you true to your pouch? Did you eat stuff you shouldn't or was this truly just a fluke? I hope your revision goes well. Sorry for your discomfort. God Bless! Happy New Year, Carolyn

Hey, Thanks for the shout. I am a little forelorn this day as my HR department contacted me. They had worked out a loan for me because the surgery is not covered by our insurance. Then out of the blue now that I have done all the testing and have a surgery date they are saying.."wait we are meeting on the 19th to decide possible benefits for the WLS"! I am beside myself, if I wait it may be covered but if I give up my date there is always the chance it wont be and I have to start again. Man! I hate this @!#! I want this so badly and have been working for 2 years for it. I hope it all works out as it should. I am really trying to be positive. I've lost 14 lbs on the protein shakes in prep for the surgery so it can't be that bad right? Talk soon...nice to meet you...good luck on your surgery! Carolyn

Hey Norma, I am a nursing student as well in MA. I do currently work in L&D so that helps. I only make 13 an hour but I work 7p-7a so i make 5$ more an hour for a differential. I love my job and am lucky enough to only work on weekennd so I do not have to find childcare. I know it may not seem like much $$$ but the benefits and the patients make it all worthwhile. i hope to eventually go to Midwifery school but one thing at a time right I hope all goes well with you-good luck. Me too Norma...I'm working on my pre-nursing courses part time. Fortunately for me I do payroll for a hospital here in Nor-Cal. Start pay at the hospital I'm at for a new grad 2 year nursing degree nurse is about $24 an hour plus shift differential and extra pay for inpatient care (called supplementals) which can bring the hourly rate from $26-31 an hour fresh out of school. Keep up the good work. If you don't mind me asking...which area of nursing do you want to go into? I'm looking forward to Labor/Delivery. Kristy 248/162/140 RNY 8/3/04

Hi my name is Heather. I am a NICU RN. I love my job. I am also a WLS pt. I had RNY gastric bypas 2/22/02 and lost 195lbs in 1.5 years. At the 2 year mark I started to develop stomache aches, I was feeling hungry, and gaining weight. I am now in the process to have a revision because I had a staple line disruption, developed GERD and ulcers and have regained 85lbs give or take. When people used to ask if I'd do it again I said yes, now I am.

I'll definitely look into it, thanks Karen I sooo wanted to just find a job where I'd be applying everything that my nursing heart has to offer....just was a bummer to hear that the salary would be so low for a nurse extern/nursing assistant. Overall, I'm keeping my patience nearby and just seeing what comes up. I should be done with my RN in about 2yrs, tops...so, have something to look forward to!

I'm in the city of LA, to be exact: monterrey park, around East Los Angeles (a stone throw away from downtown LA). I didn't realize travel nurses made that much...! I'm new to the whole nursing "lingo" (tee hee), what DOES a travel nurse do?

hahahaha, I'm not saying a word. I found myself totally ignorant of items in my general knowledge when it pertained to me. My dr diagnosed me with atelectasis. I didn't even know how to explain it to my family!! Yet, I work as a surgery nurse, and feel very competent explaining it to OTHER patient's famlies... gee****s a brain belch.
