Topic: RE: I'm a bad girl!
I'm impressed. I couldn't do that rigorous of a diet without the help of surgery. I was just wondering though, aren't you worried that you might get totally burnt out on the shakes before you have the surgery, and that's when you NEED them. I would, but I am impressed with your dedication. I'm glad I am not required to lose before surgery. I did hear that it's really bad to have a night-before-surgery pig-out. I will probably do that a couple nights before and just have liquids or soups the day before. Anyone else have any thoughts about that?

I might be able to use the xl ones. You can email me if you like. [email protected] Thanks!

Topic: Anyone need XL scrubs?
Hi All, I have scrubs I'd like to pass on, mostly one XL, a few XXL. I am 3.5 weeks post-op and down 20 lbs. But my numbers are on a plateau; that awful scale thing says I'm still -20 but hasn't moved in TWO WEEKS!
I am losing inches so I really shouldn't complain. And I'm wearing smaller clothes. Let me know if anyone is interested in my uniforms. Sue

Tia, Dang, that dosen't sound like fun, sorry you are going thru that. I have no idea what that could be. Maybe make an appt. with and endocronologist, maybe it could be the lumph system. Let me know what you find out. Good luck.
Topic: RE: OT: What's your area of expertise?
1. What is your specialty? In 1987 I went to work for the local community hospital as apretty green LVN. Did a little LTC, then moved to the acute side. Started working on my RN and got it in 1990. Have done Med-Surg, Peds, OB, ER, and Surgery, both as a staff RN and Supervisor..... not doing the supervisor thing again, thank you very much
. I loved OB and Surgery, by the way.
In February 2002 I started working on my BSN with National University, and had my degree conferred in January 2004. I flew to San Diego in May 2004 and participated in commencment ceremonies. I walked all over the Embarcadero, and I had a blast. I have my PHN Certificate also...
In 1995 I changed channels, and went to work for The California Department of Corrections at a new prison here in Susanville. Today I am #1 in seniority, and am looking forward to retiring in a little over 10 years.
2) Other areas of interest or experience? Peds,OB, Med-Surg, Surgery, ER, Correctional Nursing.....
3) Years as a nurse, and how long it took to master skills in your area? 17 years as a nurse, and I am still mastering my skills. I feel that with the BSN deree, I look at things more analytically, if you know what I mean....
4) Your dream job? When I retire from CDC, I want to work for Public Health.. kids, moms, preventative health, education.....
Working for CDC is fine, great pay, benefits, and job security..... but I really get tired of seeing how much the state pays for these "Convicted Felons" and what they get...
... If they would put a fraction of this money into at risk communities, then there would be less inmates. Of course, I need them for my job, so it is pretty much a catch 22 situation.

Topic: RE: I NEVER KNEW THIS WAS HERE
I didn't know this was here either. I am a RN.... and dog-gone proud of it. I had surgery 7/22/03 and have lose 132#. I went from 267# to 135# in 1 year and 2 weeks.... I would do it again, and have recommended the surgery to others. I have so much more energy, and my feet don't hurt like they use to.....
I started my WLS journey in December 2002, with my initial consulatation with Dr, Skogerson in Carson City, Nevada.... and had surgery July 22, 2003, reaching my goal on August 6, 2004.
I started my BSN program in February 2002 and finished my BSN in October 2003....
. (I have been a RN since 1990 with my ASN.....)
Hoping to meet more RN's who are losers like me.... :amgel:

Thanks,

Topic: RE: Just wondering...
As far as the initial assessment goes... it is suppose to be an RN. The CNA's here D/C IV's all the time, however they clear it with the nurse first and most fo the CNA's have had a good phlebotomy class and draw blood all of the time.
The part about the LPN doing your admission assessment does surprise me.

Topic: RE: newbie with surgery date 9/28/04!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Sandy
I had my surgery with Dr. Saber on Aug 24, and I don't feel like they ever did anything to me. The first week was rough, but after the staples came out, I never had a minute of discomfort. It was great. I have a lot of things I could share with you.
I am down 25#.
