Hi Maureen I am a nurse just outside of Atlanta, Ga. I bet I know less in Spanish than you know in English. What is your practice area. I work as a Women's and Children's Manager in a small community hospital. I had RNY on 5/18/04 and have lost 72 lbs so far. Carolyn

I live here in Mexico City. A nurse for 26 years. Last 7 as a school nurse. Recently went back to my Alma mater to lead the support group for RNY patients. If you have patients that need to self pay, Mexico City is a very good option. There is a very big difference between going south of the border or going to Mexico City. My dream job would be to have a Talk Show!!!!!!

1) Specialty is Occupational Health Nursing. I have a job in Worker's Comp/ Case Management/Return to Work. I also have a "first response" job in a large manufacturing plant. 2) Came from ICU for a few years, then Home Health 3) 11 years in nursing - almost 12!- man it goes fast doesn't it? 6 years in Occ Health, 2 1/2 in case management. I think it probably took about 5 to feel pretty good about really knowing safety/occ health...still learning though! 4) Dream job - having a company car, paid travel and CEU's, great wages, and company supplied cleaning lady for my home! LOL

Hi Amy! I am an RN in Tuscaloosa, AL. Starting pay here is pretty low for new grads...about $17.50 in the hospital. I think one of the reasons it is so low is because there are two hospitals here in town, but owned by one company. Where the money is...travel nursing!! I was an OB nurse, but now I am in pharaceutical research-better $$ and better hours! Best of Luck!

Here in california a lot of pay is based on location. ie: Los Angeles County is higher paid (generally) than San Bernardino County. A lot of our hospitals use pay scales depending on years of experience the last scale I noticed in the paper was $21-$27 hr. depending on experience. Also a lot of hospitals give differentials not just for night shift but for certifications for example if you work in ER and you have a CEN you may get a 5% pay differential added to your salary. Unfortunately most companies in my area will not divulge pay unless you go in and meet with them. Hope this helps a little. Ann in SoCal

Hi I am a Registered Nurse Certified Case Manager prior to this I worked ER, PACU, Special Procedures. My dream job? the one I currently have. If I decide to change directions some day it will probably be in the form of law, such as Legal Nurse Consultant but for now I have no desire to change jobs. I always add to my knowledge, classes, books, online etc... (do not wan't to get stagnant) Nursing is a fantastic field there are sooooo many areas to branch out into, we are really lucky! Ann
