congradulations on your approval and welcome! My insurance won't cover this surgery. I look at it as if I could be making payments on a new car, instead I'll be making payments on a new body and life. I'm excited! Sept. 1st is my surgery date. Good luck and I hope everything else runs smoothly for you through surgery. Brook

Topic: RE: OT: What's your area of expertise?
I've just moved to the ER in a Trama level II hospital. Talk about exciting!! I'm just finishing up the bridge program and am learning a lot. Before that I worked 1 1/2 years on a general med/surg/trauma floor. It gave me some good experience, but it was time to move on and I'm loving it. Other interests: camping and SCUBA diving. I would love to live somewhere in the mountains near rivers and waterfalls...one day. I also love to go on mission trips. My dream job is to be a missionary at least part time and use my nursing skills as part of a team to help reach people's physical needs as well as their spiritual ones. I've gone on several mission trips, but none since I've become a nurse. I've been working on honing in my skills. I've been to Jamaica, Dominican Republic, and Haiti and loved every minute of it.

Good luck on your surgery in a few days! Welcome to a healthier, happier way of life. I am so happy to have shed 80 pounds- I was carrying around my 9 year old daughter that I can hardly lift! I have much more energy to do my job, and my coworkers made me twirl around in the middle of the room at my last staff meeting! They are so happy for me. I have received so many congratulations for taking MY life into MY own hands with the decision I made 4/04. I would recommend this to everyone. Yes there are risks! Morbid obesity has the risks nurses understand very well too! Good luck and God be with you in your journey.
