I found that Bariatric Advantage Passion Fruit flavored Chewable Iron is GREAT!!!! I hated taking the other ones. I haven't had any side affects and it has really boosted my iron level. You can log onto Bariatricadvantage.com and order them there. They are inexpensive and taste really good.

Aleceia; I second the recommendation on the Bariatric Advantage Passion Fruit. It's very yummy and I haven't noticed any angry pouch effects from it. Blessings, Jennifer 253 / 161 / 137

Ferrous sulfate is actually the worst, so congrats, you won't try any that are worse. The bariatric advantage are great. If you can take whole pills and want to get something you can pick up locally, ferrous gluconate aren't bad. You can also find other iron formulations, look for words like "chelated". Good luck.

My surgeon requires that we take Vitron-C which is high potency ferrous fumarate with vitamin C added for better absorbency. It is very easy on the stomach and doesn't cause constipation. I buy it at CVS pharmacy. It is not cheap. 60 tablets costs $14.00 and I have to take 2 a day, so 1 bottle lasts me a month. I guess other forms of iron aren't cheap either but I was adamately warned to stay away from ferrous sulfate. Karen

My surgeon will give me some shot at my 2 wk post-op that will last 3 months...afterwards I don't know what I will do. Prior to surgery my PCP had me on Niferex Sulfate. As I'm having problems with crushing pills (that aren't chewable) I'm not sure what I will do with that capsule. As many have suggested, try to find something chewable that will give you the adequate iron you will need or check into iron infusions. Michelle
