pringles!
Hi Susan, long time no see... ;-)
I'd love to give you good advise but I was the poster boy for doing everything you're not supposed to do. I never deprived myself of anything I wanted. I was very careful to eat VERY small portions of anything that I was trying for the first time.
It worked out ok for me. I reached goal in about 6 months and I've been at goal for over 5 years now.
just take it slow in the beggining.
Christian
Lol - I think Christian summed it up nicely when he said he was the poster boy for "doing everything you're not suppose to". I wouldn't try pringles which fall under empty calories/junk food for me, maybe after awhile, but I think it's too soon to be falling into old habits. Now is the time to learn new eating habits so we can get healthy! Besides I thought you wanted to look great for your husband when he returns home? It sounds like you're still being adventerous even after the Starbucks and Wendy's Chicken fingers. I'm sure you look great now, but falling into old habits and working against your new tool will only slow down the weight loss. Take advantage of the honeymoon phase, learn and STICK to those new healthy eating habits and consider those guilty pleasures once you know you won't go overboard!

Susan...
I see you removed your date of surgery...that last time you posted about drinking STARBUCKS with the gal pals..and then going out to dinner...
Brian is right...you know the answer to your posts...I don't understand why you keep doing things you know you shouldn't so close after surgery and then come to the boards to reassure you that it's OK.
WE all are different and those of us further out post op...like a year, can eat what we want but it's all done in moderation. I feel sometime soon..perhaps not in the next month but I bet'cha before you are 6 months post op...you will posting that you haven't lost any weight and you don't understand why
I'm not picking on you...just trying to give you a "boot to the butt"!!

Just for the fat and calories...I wouldn't have the regular kind (full fat kind). But I had a half a pack of those 100 calorie pack Pringles about 3 weeks after my surgery and they went down fine. BUT I was cleared for all foods at 2 weeks out by my doctor. I wouldn't eat anything but the reduced fat kind. I don't eat them on a regular basis at all, I've only had them that one time.
But everything in moderation WHEN you are CLEARED to have it.
I always read the labels. If the protein is low, I say NO. Protein first, then fiber (veggies) but definately protein first. You just can't afford to fill up you tiny little pouch with junk.
I believe your surgeon should have given you a list of things you could eat when..At least mine did. If yours didn't, call and ask his office staff to send you something.
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

I wouldn't - they are salty empty calories and you are trying to avoid things like that. That being said, I haven't really deprived myself of TRYING anything, so I have had a few chips - a very few stolen from someone elses plate. They went down too easy, they are a slider food that doesn't fill you up like protein would, so you can eat a lot of them without discomfort. The same with crackers. Unfortunately most of that kind of food still goes down fine. But why tempt it?
Look for things with protein and/or fiber.
I am just six weeks out and I wouldnt at this time, however, I have to agree with Christen.
My Surgeon said that RNY post op is a life style. We are not to be dieting for the rest of our lives.
I dont want to deprive my self food options, because I know if I cant have any sooner or later I will eat the whole bag,( or as much as I can).
I dont believe if you are at goal or close to it, that having a chip or 2 will hurt, as long as you can just stick to 1 serving. If it is going to bring back craving than it might not be a good idea.
I have such a long way to go, chips are a no no for me...now
