hair issue
totally normal around 3 months or so to start having hair loss. Mine started at 2 1/2 months and it might actually be slowing down now because not as much is coming out when I comb it each day (only 6 wks so far for me of losing hair). I'm not sure why you'd be having it so early at a month out, you might want to ask your doctor about it.
I've heard it can last anywhere from 3 months to 6 months, just depends on the person. The hair loss is just following the shock of you having surgery a few months ago, being under anesthesia, and the dip in nutrition that your body was used to pre op. Your hair I've heard grows in 3 month cycles, so usually it shows up at 3 months post op. I take Biotin to help with the hair regrowth (so it comes in strong and healthy) and take 3mg daily (3000mcg). There is nothing you are doing wrong to make this happen to you,it's totally normal and happens to a lot of RNY patients! We just have to suffer through it and then it slows down and eventually stops (to what you were losing pre op, which usually isn't much each day). GL!!

I, personally, suffer major hair loss everytime my body goes through a traumatic event.
Child birth
Surgeries
Change in nutrition
major stressful events like the loss of a loved one
long periods of insomnia
extreme depression
etc
It always bounces right back. I just have to unstop the shower drain more often and clean the bathroom floors after blow drying.
I've only seen one person in real life that suffered major hair loss (as in looked like a chemo patient) as a result of anything related to the RNY. She admitted to not taking any vitamins or doing any protein suppliments. So essentially she was malnurished. When she began a vitamin routine and protein it started coming back.
Hair "thinning" is perfectly normal and will probably only be noticeable to you. It will come back

Hummmm.... that makes me wonder. Are some people more prone to hair loss than others? I have had 5 children and had no hair loss. Suffered badly with depression, had some (minor) surgeries, and gone on bad nutrition diets that I lost a lot of weight quickly and never lost any hair. I hope that this a sign that I won't lose hair after RNY in 2 weeks FROM TODAY!!! Wow, I just realized how close it is

it happened to me at a month out. dont worry its ok.
I would recomend using BABY SHAMPOO
It doesnt stop it completely but for some reason i did see a BIG difference, massage your hair a little more gently, and get haircuts, on time... which is once a month, or 6 weeks.
Theres no way to stop it.. but i definatly see a big difference in the amount of hair i lose with this. =).
Hey ur going to be a supermodel, you can always wear clip in weave's! LOL

The last few weeks my hair seems to keep coming out in hunks. I have a lot of hair so it isn't noticable to anyone but me given I have to clean out the drain and the floors after blowdrying. However it is still upsetting as I don't want to go bald. I have changed to only washing my hair every 3 days and making sure that I use a mild shampoo as well as a good hydrating conditioner. Hopefully it will stop soon; after each of my children I had hair loss as well. I am also going to look into getting the biotin and starting that for the new growth.
