Depo Provera Shot. Gained 20 lbs in 6 mos. Possible?

Im on depo now. Have been since 1 month after surgery and I have lost 170 lbs and am 20 from goal. I have had no prob with weight gain although I do stall from time to time this is normal. I spotted for almost 2 months ( my Drs office said it takes sometimes up to 3 shots for the spotting to stop) and then it stopped and I have not had a period since.  Maybe it just depends on the person. I was on Yasimin before surgery and it made me soo sick and gave me headaches which is why I decided not to go back with the pill after surgery.

Has any one Not gained weight on the shot AFTER surgery.  I did the shot for about 6 months a few years ago - and I did gain weight, I am wondering if it would be different after surgery.  I am on the Nuva Ring now, and it works great but I still get my period every month and it is rather expensive at $20.00 a month for the ring. I would like to try the shot again but not sure if I would I want to risk the weight gain.

stop it now.  i blame depo for a lot of my weight gain and medical problems.  Witout depo I probably wouldn't have had to get wls. 

U are lucky without wls you would have been like me.  I gained 90 lbs in 3 months and bled for 6 months straight.  I was ready to commit suicide and I hated everyone and everything. 

After getting my next shot that the dr talked me into I came home and my hubby had pulled up on the computer where a lawyer had comitted suicide in germany with a wonderful life.  she did it 4 months after being on depo.  I don't reccomend that shot to anyone.... never . never...

within a year of being off the shot i lost 20 lbs and was normal again.  my husband actually dreaded coming home and we have a very strong relationship.. it was awful..

Dont take the next shot... don't don't don't.  Use something else.. taking birth control pills isn't that bad and they have this new thing out that they implant in you that can be removed if problems...

That shot really messed me up.  I took it about 13 years ago and I gained a substantial amount of weight, spotted the entire year I was on it and ended up with thinning hair.  It was not good for me at all!

Gained 50 lbs in three months here!
