I have been frankly shocked by the result on my face. Is it rude of me to suggest it might have to do with makeup? As in I haven't worn makeup since.... er.... my wedding... and before that, I probably hadn't worn it since I was 21? Perhaps that has resulted in a younger looking face?

I expected to look every one of my almost-forty years fairly quickly, as I lost the fat out of my face, but the fat is mostly gone and the face is younger. I mean, if you get up close and personal I have a LOT of smile lines around my eyes, but I've always thought that smile lines can be very attractive, and mine are REALLY attractive (vanity!)

I do have a little bit of a turkey wattle going on.... but not much of one. The FACE gods have been kind to me!

Yeah, it's rude. ;) But you're a nerd girl-- no one expects social graces outta math teachers! :)

No-- see, I only wear it on my eyes. No foundation, no powder, ever-- so I am thinkin' that didn't cause me to turn into Walter Matthau. I wash up and moisturize-- I just had a lot of extra face, and when it goes, it goes, y'know?

But I am hangy and wrinkly as hell, which is why I don't smile-- it makes it worse.

Well I rarely scrub my face, rarely (well okay.... NEVER) use moisterurizer.... and I keep my exposure to the sun to a very BARE minimum. (also almost never).

Probably good genes. My "magic-skin" that refuses to be permanently burned. (I did once get so badly sunburned my entire face was one big blister)

Note: my face didn't drop until late in the game-- so reserve commentary til you're done cookin', Lith-- don't tempt fate!

I don't scrub either--- never did. Almost never see daylight. And I have to use moisturizer now-- or the surgeon won't operate. It's nothing I am doing-- it's a loss of volume.

As you can see in my before pics I always had great skin too-- but dehydration and malabsorption are killin' me. Ugh. Here-- here's a classic shot of my dehydrated effed-up self, suitable for framing. I like to call this one, "EVERYONE DRINK YOUR DAMN WATER!"
At about 6 months out, (this was last January) my vitamins weren't getting the job done, and I was chronically dehydrated and felt like **** While I have recovered some since (had IVs the next day), I was looking like this splotchy wrinkly version of Walter Matthau for a while.... GAHHHHH!

I remember those pictures being posted. I realize that I could come out of this looking 40 at any time. I expect it. But perhaps I'm doing a little better because the liquids are being kinder to me, and I'm able to get 48 on my BAD days, and 120 on my good days. I got 72 oz per day from my 4th day post op. Plus I've never "watched my fat"....since my surgery.

How could you watch your fat, woman? You were consuming about a cubic inch of food-- it you ate any less it'd have been in the negative numbers!

I've been better on liquids since the gallbladder. I have a retrocardiac hiatal hernia and it put weird pressure on me when I drank-- somehow ousting the rotting GB gave me some much needed space. I get about 60 oz a day now, and poop better too. Better Living Through Surgical Intervention!

Or maybe, gull-thang, you didn't have a head like a freakin' pieplate to start with! How 'bout THAT? Maybe it's a'cuz I was a human bowling ball-head!

Well yeah, there is that. Not much food = not much fat. ]

I'm glad you were able to get better liquids later.

And yeah.... my head wasn't quite a bowling ball.

Ah well.... I'm a lucky duck!
