Thank you for not voting. Wish we could get a referendum like that going for ALL fundamentalist Christians! We don't need to elect our world leaders based on religious mythology. That's not what this great nation was founded on, but that's where the religious right is trying to take it.
“Christianity is the most perverted system that ever shone on man.” Thomas Jefferson
Yup. America was founded by men of widely varying religious beliefs, most of whom held a belief in "Almighty God" as was commonly believed in that day. That is not necessarily God as described in the Bible, and certainly not God as believed by today's Fundies.
Religious beliefs and church membership were historically used to limit all kinds of civic freedoms, particularly the right to vote and the right to hold public office.
The Constitution is not Holy Scripture. The Bible is not the law of the land. The rule of law and faith are two very different things. The rule of law MUST accomodate for lots of things that might or might not agree with anyone's personal moral code or belief system.
This shouldn't be a complicated thing to grasp. It isn't hard for people in other countries to grasp, except in very small fringe populations. I find it abhorrent that my fellow Christians insist on trying to force this belief system on my fellow Americans by political means. That's not how the founding fathers would want it to work today (if they ever did, for that matter), and it's not how the Bible instructs believers to further the message.

WHOA! WAIT A MINUTE THERE! I AM a fundamentalist Christian, but I don't vote republican all the time. As a matter of fact, I'm not rep OR dem....but my voter registration says dem. I don't remember registering dem, but whatever. LOL I DO believe God knows what will happen before it happens. But, I also believe we have an obligation to vote if we want certain people in office. You don't vote, you have NO RIGHT to complain. KWIM? Anyway, this fundy Christian already voted, via absentee ballot, for Obama.....and I'm proud to admit it if anyone asks. I'm tired of rep screwing us over.... Maybe Obama is the wrong choice, maybe not....but at least those of us who vote actually make a decision on it, right?

I think a lot of non-voting people, Christians especially, don't realize that dem and rep are NOT the only candidates. They don't like the "main two"? Fine, cast their vote for one of the others. They just need to get out and vote! And LOL at the rep and heaven comment!
