I disagree, the slams were against the misuse of religion to further the political agenda of the author. This guy thinks he can borrow the authority of God and use it to his own ends.  This is just wrong.  But against me, his evil weapons have no power.  Against the uneducated, unintelligent, easily beguiled, the people Foss has intentionally filled with fear, this God whoring may prove powerful to sway people.  Well, he can try to do it.  And we can try to prevent it.  We're just adding our voices of reason to the mix here.  If the original poster didn't want replies then she posted this in the wrong place.

Check my history, I have never once slammed MaryLaw for trying to use her religion to help people, to express herself, to do good.

But, anyone comes around using it to do what I consider evil, 'them's fair game' in my book.

I respectfully disagree.  Some of the slams were directed at people and their personal beliefs, not in the political agenda of the author.  Someone stated that Christians have lower intellects.  It is posts like these that I take issue with.

Not every Christian is a "fundy" as some seem to believe.  Not every Christian is a blind follower.  Most of us think for ourselves, and make our own decisions regarding the election, and anything else for that matter.  The only difference is that I use the Bible as my guide, and not the mainstream media.

Hold up, no one said Christians have lower intellects.  Or even implied that all Christians were unintlligent.  Not a single poster said all Christians are "fundy's."  Someone did imply that even the uneducated Christians would not believe this 'preacher's" claims.  (This tends to actually support the premise that Christians have sufficient intelligence, by the way.)

I love most of the ones (humans) who think for themselves, aren't blind followers, and make there own decisions.  I respect your right to use your bible, your periodic table of the elements or even the back of your macaroni box, as your guide.  Just don't hit me over the head with it, please.

And, if one brings out his bible around here to try to trick innocent people into voting his way or giving him money, like the original author appears to be doing, he can expect what happened here - a spanking.

So what I am really wondering here is, "What's got your knickers in a knot?"

I'm just guessing but ... the use of the trailer comment, no?  It's a common saying, a very possibly inaccurate value judgement, but none the less a useful communication tool.  Getting all bent out of shape about it seems to be taking you out on a limb that cannot possible support your position.

Sorry it got your panties in a bunch.  May I suggest commando or flame retardant styles in the future?

Please look at uptowngirl's response to the poster who said she didn't vote: "And that is why so many people look at you fundy  xstians and only see low intellect."  Yeah, I believe that more than implies that fundy Christians are of low intellect, at least in her eyes.

My knickers are not in a knot, nor are my panties in a bunch.  I was simply playing devil's advocate, attempting to ascertain why exactly the OP was slaughtered as she was.  I didn't jump on board to join in the bloodbath because I don't think anyone should be made to feel an idiot for their beliefs.

This has nothing to do with the trailer comment.  Nothing whatsoever.  I have been here long enough that I know how to handle my own, and that is why I questioned Diana on that issue personally, and did not mention it again.  One has nothing to do with the other.

Ok, thanks, I see your point.  My apologies.

I originally read UTG's response more as a parody of the style of the poster saying that's why she doesn't vote and probably colored by my personal inability to comprehend the choice to not vote for the reason stated by that poster.

Playing devil's advocate, ok, I get that.  I just ascribe to the notion that nothing anyone else does can make me feel anything.  Oh, they can try.  Just like Rev. Foss tries to make people asker'd of an evil spirit flowing into Obama supporters causing them to hate Gov. Palin.  But we all grownups get to be the boss of our own feelings.

I checked and I dont think I got any of the bloodbath on me.  How'd you fair?

I think it was really the blatant USE of religion to perpetuate a political agenda.

Not me.  I think the idiocy is in believing this self serving schizophrenic really heard gawd talking.

It has everything to do with the election and politics and not God.  I don't believe in mixing the two and no matter who I work for I am entitled to my own personal opinions.

And the link she included is to a website asking for donations.  The daily devotions I respect, they don't use God to suggest who to vote for and they don't ask for money....

 Take care,
Kathy

Robyn: if this were just a post where she is stating her views I'd have no problem with it. If it was just a religious post, I'd have no problem with it. It is political spam going around the internet couched in very religious tones.

This "ministry" should not be doing it if they are tax exempt, and she is just forwarding ridiculous spam. To me this is entirely different than MaryLaw or Fast Fingers.

And as for Kathy, she probably bites her tongue a dozen times a day. She has got to be one of the most fair people I've seen on this board (sorry Tooter you were before my time kind of). I think she is allowed to express an opinion once in awhile.

I don't think YOU would have posted this would you? You have more sense than that!
