My husband likes to eat Sun Chips so we usually have some around house. For some reason I am really craving them. Is it okay to have a few by a few I mean 2 or 3?

I certainly understand the temptation...I loved them puppies pre-op.  :-)

However, what is your current meal plan from your surgeon?  I'm 8 weeks out and still on soft foods for another week.  My surgeon is more conservative than some, though, so you may be on a full regular diet.

Also, while my view is that we each have to find a way to make this work (and that may include occasional indulgences), crunchy/salty was enough of a trigger for me that I'd stay away from them for now.

Best of luck deciding!

I personally only keep one kind of chips in the house: the little individual bags for my daughters lunch.  Up until this point, the guilt of robbing from my children's lunches has kept any desire to eat chips at bay.

I would say that you can do whatever you want to do.  But if you find yourself getting out of control with the chips, I would definitely advocate getting yourself as far away from them as possible.  Or getting them far away from you.

Your still a bit early out from surgery.  If your going to try anything that crunchy make sure you chew the crap out of it!

As far as eating tempting foods, only you can answer that.  Will eating it throw you into a binge, then don't do it.  If you can handle a few than go for it.

I personally didn't have anything like that for 6-7 months after surgery.  But my doc was very consertive and I was a bit scared of pain and dumping.

But remember when eating any meal or snack protein first!

Good luck,

You could always tell your husband that he can eat all of them that he wants OUTSIDE the house. Have them at work or alone in the car or where ever. Just so long as they do not enter the house.

Oreo cookies have been banned from my house. I learned early on that my kids did not NEED many things that I bought for them because I thought they liked them. They liked many other things that did not tempt me. I bought them so that I could see someone eat them if I could not and if I really admitted the whole truth so that I could just have a 'taste'.

I changed my shopping habits and no one has complained. For me it had to be done. It was a slippery slope. One that I still fight. I can not go back to that old place.

You are still WAY too early out to be venturing away!!! I would give it AT LEAST 3 to 6 months post op before you try a chip and the thing is, if you try one and it sits well, you are going to try another and another...i believe those are known as trigger foods!!! I am telling you this, because I go through it almost every day, keeping my hands away from the temptatiion foods!! You know the foods that make your taste buds have a party, but the foods that are the reason we had the surgery because we can't stop eating them :( It is tough, I KNOW!!! But hang in there and yes, 1 day you can have a few sunchips, but just proceed with caution, but definately definately WAIT till you are much further out!!! CONGRATS on your success thus far!!!
