Best Protein Drink for Best Price?
All,
My nutrutionist sells protein shakes for a pretty penny - and they're high in protein, low in carbs, but I am not paying that price for something I'm drinking so often. (2xper day)
What is the advice out there as far as best brand for us post-ops to buy? I went to GNC and got Wheybolic Extreme 60 - and it's a little higher in carbs but the guy said the ingredients are isolates so it makes it easier for the body to absorb.
Could I please get some suggestions as far as what has worked? I noticed this has soy in it and I should not be having soy because I have thyroid issues (had a thyroidectomy in Feb last year). My weight loss is slow and i'm sure that's partly why.
Thanks in advance,
Susan

I think that EAS RTD has soy protein in it. Not sure, but please check that.
Muscle milk RTD, have mostly whey, or milk protein.
Please remember, that you can always return (if you have your receipt) the protein you bought in GNC even if you open it (since it has soy - you may not want to use it).
I use Unjury (good quality - a bit pricey), "Designer Whey" protein is fair, and it is less expensive.
They are so many brands, and so many choices... try to get some that you like and that have the proteins that our body needs. FYI for every 1 can (large one) of Designer Whey I buy 1 can of Unjury (unflavored) to make sure I get the quality and pricing matched. Living and feeding ourselves is expensive.

Buy some samples from them (the flavored ones) try them and then buy what you like.
I only use Unjury unfavared. But I get nausea so easy, and most comercial powders are too sweet for me. So far i found some that are OK.
Most of the time I mix 1/2 -1/2 flavored -unflavored, and with enough water or coffee, I get the taste I can drink.
Good luck.
Check Vitammin Shoppe- if you have one in your area. Thy are great (at least in my area).

Personally I mainly use the Champion Whey because I can buy it locally at my Vitamin Shoppe and it is just as good (to me) as the other "regular" flavors (chocolate, vanilla, etc)
If you have a vitamin shoppe near you I have a 20% coupon I can forward you (only good in stores though)...
Their Champion is $45 for a 5# tub which has 71 servings (each with 24g of protein). I mix it with 6 oz milk for an added protein boost but you could do it with water. This works out to 63.4 cents per shake (+ cost of optional milk)
