Last night was my second night on solids/normal food. Still eating soft stuff, but I made a pizza by the book and sliced some avocado.OMG, I ate one small sliver of avocado and then 2 bites of the pizza and chew chew chew til mush mush mush and I got so ill. I felt like my stomach was going to explode, I couldn't get it up, laid down, got up and wham, the big "D" over and over. Had chest pains and stomach pains for about an hour plus. Then, I could only lay on my right side and get comfortable enough to slepp.

When I awoke this morning it was like my stomach was sore. And still full felling. I ate soup all day and applesauce. I am struggling to get all my fluids in and I know I am dehydrating because of my output color. ARGH, someone with any ideas?

HELP

God Bless

If you take into consideration what I weighed when I got HOME from the hospital we could use 212 as a starting weight....Just a thought

Do you still have your gallbladder? I have never heard of or experienced dumping like what you just described and everything you described as far as symptoms was exactly what i experienced when I had gall stones. I had one lodged in my bile duct that was causing my urine to be brown, my poo to be white, and the pain was like a vice brip on my ches and in my upper middle back.

I sure hope you don't have to experience that again, but you should contact your doctor. I've dumped but what you describe is something I have never ever experienced.

many hugs..

I never have dumped, but it sounds like that was what happened!!

I get the icky feeling (REALLY icky) but not the other symptoms.  Sometimes the food comes back up, but I didn't get all the other stuff.  ... Which is good and bad - it's no fun being sick, but dumping helps some people keep away from the bad stuff.

I can't eat bread products and sometimes too much fat (even the "healthy kind") will make you sick.  So depending on what you used for the crust or if you're tummy wasn't ready for the avocado yet - either could have caused the problem.  I'm 15 months out and can only eat a bite or two of pizza or I'll have a problem.

Your plan to stay with soup and applesauce is a good idea!  When I had food intolerance (month 2-5) I had only 5-6 foods I could eat without having trouble (cottage cheese, veggie chili, soup, etc).  Coming out of the "liquids stage" and into the "mushy stage" was tough for me.  I then made it worse by trying new foods too quickly.   My NUT said to eat soup for a day after I had a rough meal to let my stomach rest and heal.  After that,  I had much better luck!

Hang in there!  This next stage can be challenging - BUT - the weight will start coming off fast, so really make the most of it!

P.S.  Getting liquids is tricky too.  You need to wait that buffer between eating and drinking, and it's tricky getting everything in.  Make a schedule for yourself - set a timer if needed, and plan your liquids.  I eat when I get up - by the time I get to work, I can start drinking.  I'm a teacher, I have finished my first bottle of water by the end of 3rd hour - so that when lunch hits during 4th hour, it's time to eat again.  That kind of  planning is a pain at first - but in no time it will become a healthy habit!

Even now, 8 months post op I still can not do breads very much. Just recently I started having some bread and that mostly the crust, but I can feel it for a while if i eat that.   If the pizza had a dough, then probably that swelled up in your small, still healing tummy and made you sick.
So early out I was on puree and no pizza or even pizza toppings, too much too early...

Your tummy is probably irritated, swollen, and needs time to heal.  Drink liquids for a day or 2 and hope that it will pass... good luck.
