What does "Dumping" mean for you?

Diayanne,

I've been reading a lot about gallbladder attacks lately because while my symptoms are mild, I am having my GB taken out  soon due to gallstones.

From what I've read, the symptoms you describe sound very similar to a gallbladder attack.

Of course, I could be totally wrong, but I just wanted to mention this just in case its relevant for you.

Best,

Cindy

P.S. If you already had your gallbladder out, well, then, please ignore this!

It's different for everyone.  I've had varying degrees, in the beginning I would get all sweaty and feel like I wanted to vomit.  Now most of the time I just feel icky.  I also feel crappy if I eat to fast.

To add to what has been said; you can dump going south as well.  Happens when food irritates the small intestine and the response is by the small intestine is to send it one down the line - very rapidly! That is why early out you NEVER trust a fart!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

Dumping to me, besides being a living hell, is sweats, racing heart, vomiting, freezing cold, shaking, and a general feeling of wanting to die (not really).  I only had it once and don't know exactly what caused it but I think it was the fat because I really watch the sugars and keep them very low.  It lasted about an hour and I was exhausted afterwards.   When it happens, you'll know it.

I've had something happen a few times but nothing as extreme as some other have mentioned. I've noticed if I eat too fast I seem to just feel "off". My stomach feels weird. I know that's not the best description but it's the only way I can describe it. Like something might happen but thus far has not. I also get really sleepy and just feel a general nausea. If I can lie down for about 20 minutes it's usually gone and I'm back to normal. I guess this might be my form of dumping?

What you have described is what I get.  Except I vomit.  I try not to because it hurts, but after I do I feel so much better.  I just thought it was throwing up...not dumping.  I think I was wrong..lol

My pouchy is an UberGrouch, so I get dumping and foamies. Dumping always makes me feel swoony and feverish. Sometimes I just need to lay down RIGHT NOW; and other times it's off to the toilet where i may or may not also need to shove my face in the trash can. In the beginning, this was caused by too much sugar or fat, but lately (16 mo out) it only happens when something is really concentrated (too many spices, or too salty, whatever).

Foamies start with the gurgling tummy and the feeling like I have swallowed a handful of jacks or dice... all pointy. I get flushed and my mouth starts watering. My stomach weels like it's munging something very hard and then I start burping up foam. If that doesn't clear it up, I may actually vomit. Sometimes this can go on for hours. On ocassion it's been because I ate too fast or didn't chew enough, but most of the time it's a mystery... pouchy just did not like something. In some cases, after an hour of foaming, one tiny little piece of onion or something will come up and then it's all better. Chicken always gives me foamies... the only way I've been able to eat chicken since surgery is if I put it in the blender and make a pureed spread out of it, and even that's not guarantee.

I'd say that I get the foamies much more than dumping, but man, once you've dumped it's hard to mistake!

Oh God.  This sounds horrible!  But in the event this ever happens to me, I don't think I will panic as much as if you hadn't have written this!  Knowing me, I would think I had rabies or something...its sounds funny, but sadly it's true..lol.
