Had my 1st laser hair removal treatment yesterday!
Laser hair removal is one of the top contenders for what my "reward" will be when I hit my goal weight. My GYN's office offers it and I've been told my skin and hair tones would be perfect for the treatment .. so that gives me hope. Thanks for the reality check on how the treatment actually goes. So far you haven't scared me away. LOL!
My Recipe Index is packed full of yumminess!

What a great gift to yourself!! My laser hair removal is also a gift to myself! Gotta love the light skin/dark hair combo....we're perfect candidates for laser treatments. My technician actually said that she gets a lot of middle aged women seeking laser hair removal but aren't candidates because their hair has gone grey. She stressed the importance of getting it done while the hair still has color!

Wow -- I had my second session yesterday and it was nothing like that. I don't even know what to make out of the saran-wrapped face experience
Here's what I've experienced so far: A small ice pack is first placed on my face for about 5 minutes to numb it. Then, a gel is applied to a section of my face (usually starting with the side cheek area) and then the laser is directly run over that section of my face. The process is repeated several times until all the areas requiring treatment are done. Each time a section is done, an ice pack is reapplied to my face to bring down any redness or swelling. The areas of my face that grow "goat hairs" (read: thick and black) usually sting a bit more, but I hardly experience any pain at all, and with each visit the laser setting is increased. A sunblock is applied before I leave the office and I'm advised to take Tylenol if I'm in pain, and I've haven't had to do it yet.
I paid about $1200 for 5 sessions of laser hair removal for my face. I also paid $750 for 5 sessions to get my underarms done.
The hair growth on my face and underarms has decreased significantly. The hair that does grow back is finer, and substantially less. It's been a much better option for me than waxing, and it's one less thing for me to worry about from a maintenance aspect.
