I took a swing at it. I'm sure there is room to improve somewhere but I'm sure you kind people can help me out with it!

Carbquik Biscuits and Sausage Gravy

1.5 cups of milk
1/2tsp black pepper
4 links of lean turkey sausage taken out of casing
1TBSP whole wheat flour
2 Carbquik drop biscuits

Brown up the turkey sausage in a small saucepan over med-high heat. Drain on paper towels.

DO NOT WIPE OUT DA SAUCEPAN! all the yummy drippins are in there for flavor!

Add 1 cup of milk to the sauce pan and bring to a simmer. Simmer for 2-3 minutes being careful not to let it boil over.  Add the 1TBSP of flour to the 1/2 cup of reserved milk and stir with a wisk. Add the mixture slowly to the simmering milk. Bring it back to a simmer and let it reduce for about 7 minutes stirring it every so often so a film doesnt develop on the top.

After it reduces and you can see it thickening up a little, add the black pepper and salt. Stir. Add sausage. Bring the yummy mixture up to a simmer again and it will thicken up a little more.  Warm up your carbquik biscuits (mine were in the fridge) and pour 3/4c of the mix over the biscuit.

Pictured is one serving but this recipe makes 2 servings

Ok here are the numbers!

I made the Carbquick drop biscuits on Sunday while I was at  work.  Nom nom nom, heaven.  Couple sprays of ICBNB and a squirt of honey, I was good to go.  My next project is to make the cheeseburger pie with it that you would normally use Bisquick for.

Being from the south originally, these biscuits and gravy will be on the list too!!!

Take it from a downhome southern gravy maker, the flour should be added to the drippings along with salt and pepper, blended in and 'cooked' good (sorta like a roux when cooking gumbo), then add the milk and stir until bubblin'......

That's what I usually do too but because it's lean turkey sausage there was barely any drippings. There were enough for crumbly yummy bits to sit on the bottom.

Jena, you're killing me here!  OMG it's so weird that you posted this because I was literally just staring at the CQ box and trying to figure out if I had the stuff on hand to make sausage gravy before I turned on my laptop.  Looks delicious!
