I am 3 weeks almost 4 and I am already at the gym 5 days a week.
I walk 2 miles on the tread mill, I lift weights for my arms, I swim 10 laps in the pool plus I do water aerobics 5 days a week stretch and tone and a little deep water I am just not over doing stomach mussels if it hurts or pulls I STOP and do something else.
I hope this helps

I began walking three hours after surgery and was not cleared to begin with my personal trainer at the gym and to do weight training until six weeks out. I had the mini open. So ever since week six I have been doing weight training three times a week in addition to my five times a week cardio. It has really helped me I think!

I never stopped. My suegeon gives exercises to do in hospital.
After release, the only limit was no lifting over 15lbs. I continued with aerobics on a stationary bike and skipped the weights. I also did yoga and pilates being mindful of how I felt so I'd know where to stop without pushing the limit.
Check with your doc, there may be more you can do now with the surgeons ok.

V'N MY RNY. WORKING FOR ME BECAUSE I WORK FOR IT.
I started walking the day after surgery. My surgeon released me to do anything I wanted except weight lifting at two weeks post op. I had to weight until 6 weeks post op to start weight training. Even then, I was careful with my abs for another 6 weeks.
I did aqua aerobics for a few weeks, then started using cardio machines when I got stronger. Be sure and incorporate a strength routing into your workout. As you build muscle, you'll increase your metabolism. This is very important as most of us have wrecked our metabolism with years of losing, gaining, losing, gaining.
Good luck!
