I don't know hyou you just live with the pain, especially for 10 years.  Dang!

I seriously wake up every morning, upset that I'm awake because it's the start of another day of pain.  More days than not, I wish I'd just die.  Had to call the psych. dr today to get an increase to my anti depressants. I've never felt so hopeless about anything in my life.  Having said all that, I would never harm myself, but I'm just so tired of this pain.  I feel so good otherwise since RNY, it just sucks!

I understand. Pain is the pits.

I wake up all night  all the time because I'm in so much pain.

DId the docs tell you "Your back pain will improve if you didn't weigh so much"? I know mine did. Not true, not true.

What sucks the most is I never had this pain AT ALL before surgery. I've lost over 100 pounds since last fall, wouldn't you think I would have been hurting like mad weighing 325? Nope, didn't hurt one ioda! GRRR.  I still don't know how you do it with any pain other than the DDD, being up all night, etc.  You are a strong lady!

I've had the intrathecal epidural injections as well.  Worked OK, but the pain did return.  Ask your doc for Tramadol.  For me it dulls the pain, and works kinda sneaky.  I thought it wasn't effective, until I ran out for a couple of days.

How long did the injections make you feel better for and it was it 100% relief or how much pain was gone thanks to them?

I do have a RX for Tramadol and Flexeril which I've been taking, but I don't think it's doing me much, if any good.

I have it too, and I've found that Zanaflex works much better for my muscle spasms than Flexeril.  They also have a relatively new (been out about 5 or so years) muscle relaxant specifically for musculo-skeletal muscles called Skelaxin, it works well but zombi-fied me at 400+ lbs so I'd be terrified of it now lol.

I'll have to ask the doctor about Zanaflex and Skelaxin.  I don't get zombied easily so maybe I'd be ok.

I have DDD and have had for a number of yrs. It started out as a work related back injury. After having had almost every pain killer available that I was not allergic to and having a couple of ER visits and some injections-which only lasted in my system for a couple of weeks tops, I then had to have surgery on my lower back L3,4,5 .  Then 8 yrs later I woke up and couldn't move. After months of Chiro appointments and only a little improvement , MRI to show It is all degenerated, Workman's comp ok'd me to go into back rehab. This took a couple months to go through. I now have (2 yrs) a fancy back sling chair called an LTX3000.  I am able to get my own spine into adjustment and lined up pretty good as needed. I used to use the chair 4 times a day before surgery and would walk with a cane most of the time. Now after WLS, no cane and I used the chair as needed.

I hope they find you something that works. Life sucks when your in pain of any sort.
Wishing you luck and wellness

I have multiple herniated discs plus degenerative disc disease and spinal stenosis.  I go to pain management and have had many epidural injections and I even had the nerves frozen -  I don't remember what the procedure was called.  I now wear the Duragesic Patch (Fentanyl) and take Percocet as needed.  Tramadol does nothing for me.

the shots are great - you should try them.  They really help.  Physical therapy also helps.  My back is alot better since the surgery too.  I am now having trouble with my middle back now (I think it is the thorasaic spine)  If it gets worse, I will go back to my rheumatologist to get another MRI.

I have degen. disc disease too...after losing all my weight..I don't need steriod injections or pain meds.  I did have a cage, rod & screws placed in back from tailbone to neck ~ so that has helped too...But I haven't had a bit of pain once I have lost all my weight.

That is one of the main reasons I had weight loss surgery...I was 320 lbs and going on my 6th surgery....for my neck.  I knew I had to do something or I might end up crippled.

take care,
Dawn
