Truvia vs. Splenda in cereal

Sorry if I posted on THIS board before...

was wondering if anyone has tried either in creeal - especially corn flakes.  I'm asking for that only, not why I'm eating corn flakes, carbs, etc.  Since I can't do sugar, and if I can even tolerate my beloved corn flakes (that I loved crunched & soggy pre-op), I'm just trying to find info.  I tried Corn Flakes w/ Splenda a few years ago - wasn't sweet enough.  Maybe that's changed now.

NUT told me as long as  cereal is less than 10g of sugar it's fine, but I  can't add my own sugar.  She suggested I try Cheerios (never had them before).

So yes, I can have cereal and carbs in limited serving sizes.  So PLEASE - PLEASE - PLEASE - don't do the carb lecture, ok?  AS Michael Jackson said in This is It when he got ticked off (paraphrasing) - "I mean that with love - it's all about the L-O-V-E!"

For me...I don't like splenda sprinkled.  It's great to cook with, but I don't like it in drinks or cereal.

I've never tried the other, I usually use the "pink stuff".

I replied on the main forum, but here's the other part of my reply...

If you find out that you can actually handle it - I would try Truvia, Purevia, etc for sprinkling on food.  It's got a better "sugar crystal" texture.  Splenda is flakey...

Thanks.  When I get the nerve, may try Cheerios, but I DETEST crunchy stuff.

Not going to give the carb lecture, but maybe you should try Special K Protein Plus.  I think it has 10 grams of protein.  It's the same consistancy as corn flakes, but not sure about the taste vs corn flakes.

As far as Splenda and Truvia?  I haven't tried Truvia but I just recently started to use splenda in my Kroger Carbmaster yogurt and 2 packs make a world of difference!

Now, TS:  How are you gonna tell me something u sdon't know about, lol?  Special K? Blah!  Well, as far as carbs, each NUT is different, I guess.  I've even started eating a veggie.  By that point, only have room for a fork or 2 of carb.

I use Stevia.  Just one more option for you.

I like Truvia pretty well but I can't testify as to how I like it on cereal. I usually only eat raisin bran and don't add any sugar at all. I like to get it good and soggy too! Before surgery I would pile on the real sugar on cereal but now I find that milk is sweet enough by itself. Who knew?

I haven't tried yet.  I do know that Hawaiaan Punch Light is too sweet fro me now and that I actually don't need to add Splenda to my SF Kool Aid.  So, maybe I'll be fine.  Only thing I've had milk in was mashed potatoes.  And that's with the Hood milk that I won't be using b/c still scared to try cereal, though NUT gave restricted blessings with it.  Maybe in a couple of weeks...
