I had surgery Nov 10, lap RNY..I have 5 incisions on my stomach, but the biggest one is on the left side of my belly (obviously where they did the most work)..where that incision is, there is a really big indentation..like when i stand up it looks like i could put almost my whole fist into that hole area..any idea what this may be?  i have had a lot of pain since surgery..supposed to go back to work on Friday, but I don't think that will happen..I can't walk for long periods of time, and still need help getting out of bed and out of a chair..heating pad and Rx medicine helps for sure though..anyway, just curious what this indentation may be?  thanks

I had a big "divot" like that, too. Mine is smoothing out. My surgeon said it's nothing. Just a puckered area where the muscle has been stitched down. It eventually relaxes and looks normal again.

I had the exact same kind of weird indentation.  Don't worry- mine is long since gone (as is most of my belly in general).

The large incision is where they inserted the scope and other surgical utensils. the indentation is because they cut through your muscle wall.

The indentation will smooth out somewhat over time. Just healing and scar tissue and stitches and stuff going on there. But - if you are still not moving around too well and up and around more - you should not be going back to work - as you suspected. Take the time you need to feel better and well. Some people take longer to get back to their old selves. EVERYONE is different. So be kind to yourself. Hope you feel better soon!
