I feel the same way, I thought with eating next-to-nothing and approx 600 calories a day,  that my weight too would just melt off. I'm four weeks out tomorrow and have lost "only" 20lbs since. But I have lost about 22lbs in the two weeks prior to surgery with the liquid diet.

As has been said, everyone is different and everyone loses at a different rate no matter how closely they follow their plan...here is my weight loss on a month by month basis, I've lost a bit slower than the average person (they tested my metabolism and it was way slow but I've gotten it better and have built up more muscle, still not normal but am working on it still) and I'm not at my "goal" weight yet, started at 273 on surgery day (had lost 22 pounds prior to surgery) and am at 172.4 currently, my technical goal is 155 (high end of a normal weight for my height), my dream goal is 145 but not sure I'll ever see that low of a number, but I'm still chugging along, I figure 17.4 pounds til a "normal" bmi is a lot better than 130+ pounds, so I'll take it.   My best advice to you is to just look at the downward progression and try not to focus so much on the week by week numbers, but I'd say losing 7.5 pounds in 8 days is quite a bit of weight.  Hang in there!

Sounds like you are doing fine to me.  You have to remember that WLS of any kind is no overnight cure.  You are going to have to work on your patience skills - they are going to be your most valuable one.

Everyone's weight loss is different.  It depends on how much you have to lose and your body's metabolism.  I was considered a "lightweight", but qualified for WLS with my BMI and several comorbidities.  Here's a chart of my own monthly loss so far:

Jello and tea... Lol.  I am also on day 8.  Started at 220 on surgery day, 229 after surgery, 217 today.  I had a couple complications so had a 4 night hospital stay, I'm glad to be home and feeling a lot better today!  Take care.

You are male and will probably lose more and faster.  You do have to follow the diet and exercise plan

I am one week out. I had my surgery on 6/9. I lost 17 in the two week low cal high protein diet with 2 days of liquids prior to surgery. When I weighed myself when I got home from the hospital, I was disappointed I hadn't lost anything in 3 days. I didn't eat at all Monday, barely could get liquids in on Tuesday, and was finally getting more liquids on Wednesday. I had issues with constant dry heaving and nausea (I believe from the anesthesia and then having nothing in the stomach to vomit). Anyway, I was so disappointed when I stepped on the scale, I figured I would be down at least something. Then thought my scale was broken, anyway, I thought about it and realized that I was probably full of gas and swelling from all the drugs and the surgery that I just needed to give my body a few days, plus I was in starvation mode since I had virtually no nutrition other than potassium iv bags. So I went on the full liquids, and since then I have lost almost 10 lbs. Which to me seems like a miracle since I was told I would lose slow (and I like you have no patience either sometimes). Hang in there, keep doing the meal plan and exercise plan from Dr and it will keep coming off. Slow and steady wins the race, I have to keep telling myself that.

I'm a little impatient too.

I lost 6 pounds in the two weeks prior to surgery on Optifast.  My surgery was four weeks ago today and I'm down another 14 pounds, for a grand total of 20.  I just hope the scale keeps showing less and less weight as the months go by!

Its been a while since you posted this.  How did everything turn out for you?

Thank you ladies for sharing. I have been concerned something is wrong with me because I'm not looking ten pounds a week like I did the first three weeks after surgery. My surgery was Feb 18, 2015 and I'm down 53 pounds in 7 weeks. I lost 20 pounds before surgery, then gained back 12 pounds in water weight (the dr said). Then started loosing again. I step on the scale everyday and I'm wondering if that is something that maybe I should only do once a week or so to keep from discouraging me now that I've been stuck on the same weight for the last four days!

I totally get where you are coming from!!!! I am so happy with my weight loss but admittedly a little frustrated that it hasn't been faster. I think part of the problem is that I heard soooo many times from so many people that the weight "will just fall off". But perhaps my definition of "fall off" and other people's definitions are different. I don't know. But I don't consider my weight falling off. But again...not that I'm negative. I'm thrilled. It just isn't what I was expecting.

That being said, I've posted my chart below so you can see my progress. Good luck on your journey!
