Do you remember anything about your surgery??

So, here is my issue. I remember being in Pre-Op. IV was put in and I talked to the Doctor who puts you to sleep (Anesthilogist spelling?).  After that I remember waking up in recovery. I don't remember counting backwards, or being pushed into a surgery room anything. I am also having issues remembering some stuff. For example, spelling of words, or what I was doing. I went to the store I was in the process of walking to go to the egg aisle, the time I got there, I forget what I was getting. I didnt remember until I got home.

I asked my doctor about it. He said its probably because of the medicine I was given to "forget" the surgery. Okay, anyone else have this same experience. Maybe they gave me brain surgery at the same time.

I don't remember anything about my surgery except for being wheeled down a hall and then waking up in a private room. As far as the memory stuff now part of it may be just due to being tired and stressed with all the physical and mental changes. Be sure to rest, get in your fluids and vitamins and give yourself some time to get back on track. Good luck

I remember seeing the surgery room, do not remember the mask, counting backwards, any of that.  I remember them putting a warmed blanket over my shoulders.  Then it was lights out......recovery room is a blur.......most of the first day is a blur......

Brain fog, yes, had it and still have it (although way less frequent now).  Forgetting words, and using the wrong word (saying blind instead of blonde for example - pretty close, but not right).  Forgetting tasks....It does clear after a bit.  You are so early out, give it a while.  Maybe a month and it got significantly better, but like I said, once in a while.....what was I saying???

Was this, by chance, your first surgery? Because it's like that for me whenever I have anesthesia. I think it's normal.

Actually, I have had 2 ear surgeries,Gall Bladder, and C-section. Maybe, you're right and I should forget all about it, Hee hee that might be easier than I think (considering my current concern).
Thanks,
Michelle

Right before the nurse took me back to the O.R., she told me she was going to give me a shot of something in my I.V. that would take the edge off of my nervousness.  Well, when she put that in, it was like whooosh!  A few minutes later, I said my "see ya in a little while's" to my mom and husband.  I remember being rolled into the O.R., I remember scooting from the rolling bed to the operating table and that's ALL I remember.    The next thing I know, I hear a lady saying "Mary Ann, it's time to wake up."   Yeah..right.  I asked " did everything go okay?" a few minutes later, it was a repeat of her telling me to wake up and me asking if everything was ok.  I'm sure we did that at least 3 or 4 times LOL.

When I got to my room, I felt like I had a catheter in, and I'm sure I did, you know that feeling.  Well, I didn't have one when I went into the O.R. and I didn't have it when I woke up, that was pretty awesome to me, haha.

That is almost exactly my experience.  I remember talking to the Anesthesiologist and the nurse came up and said she was shooting me up with something.   I felt a little woozy.

That is all I remember this was not even in the OR yet but just outside the door.

I have a very foggy memory of being waken up in recovery no sights only sounds.  I felt very tired and I was not happy about being bothered.  I remember fending someone off like a child being woken up and than moaning a bit.  I do not remember any pain they told me the drug has an amnesia type effect.  Be happy for that.

The first clear memory was waking up in the hospital room and feeling like I need to pee... ah the dreaded catheter.

Honestly though I thought the whole experiance was much much easier than I would have thought.

I don't remember anything about the surgery. I don't even remember saying goodbye to my hubbie, or getting any drugs. It is because of the amnesiac they gave me. I also don't remember anything for a few hours after surgery. The day after is also full of holes in my memory for the 1st part of the day.

I have brain fog a lot, I had attributed it to a brain injury I had 4 yrs ago in a car accident. It had gotten much better, but is now back, I can't find the word I am looking for, or remember what I was doing when going into a room, things like that. I never even thought it had to do with surgery, but I do know it is worse with stress, so I guess it is.

When they gave me the juice in pre-op I didn't remember saying goodbye to my mom or being wheeled to operating room.  I do remember a quick visual of the OR.  To me it looked like a shabby closet with shelves everywhere.  I spent most of the day in the recovery room because my blood sugars began climbing quickly.  I was getting 25 units of insulin an hour and I was in out.  I remember hearing the nurses saying "her sugars are still rising".

There was this woman next to me in recovery and I remember her saying oh my gawd I can't believe how great I feel, I can't believe I woke up so easy.  lol  Being out of it, I kept thinking I wish this woman would shut up about how great she feels.  hahahaha  Whether she was there or in mind she soooo annoyed me.

Once I got to the icu I barely remember anything for the rest of the night.  Even walking for the first time.

Hi!  I had surgery a day after you.  I remember being in the operating room and commenting on never having actually seen the inside of an operating room before, and then my arms being positioned.  One of the nurses noticed my hands were cold, so I remember her holding my hand, which was actually comforting. They then gave me the anesthesia...and I was out. I didn't even count.

Afterwards, I had what I call the anesthesia brain fog, where I would forget words, what I was doing, my memory was sketchy, I mean I forgot hours of time...especially while in the hospital. No worries. It's completely normal and gets better.

Hope you are feeling well!
