Could Vitamins be causing my diarrhea?

It could be the sugar alcohols. Check the label. Skip them for a day, and you'll know if it's the culprit.

thanks for writing me back, that is very nice of you.  My chronic diarhea has nothing to do with my vitamins = I take my calcium, potasium and magnesium via IV 3 times per week.  I give myself B12 shots and I get vitamin K shots when at the infusion center once per week.  I also take vitamin B1, B2, B6, DHEA, D3 and Calcitrol (which is D 1-25) which helps bring up your calcium and your kidneys.  I special type of Vitamin C (just recently found out deficient) that is gentle on the stomach cause years ago took vitamin C and it killed my stomach and did give me diarhea = Folic acid. CO-Q10.

As far as my chronic diarhea it is due to a combination of pancreatic insufficiency and had my right colon resected after a perferated colon and wore an Illiostomy for 3 months.  So, I cant blame my chronic diarhea on anything other then my screwed up digestive system.

I really doubt it is your calcium - if you are taking Iron it depends on which type - some will constipate you and others dont bind you at all so the vitamin C you have to take in order to absorb the iron can definitely cause diarhea.  Unfortunately the last I heard Vitalady was closing and she had the best iron I knew about = it didnt constipate you came with the correct amount of C.  Bariatric Advantage has the right Iron but not enough C. = I dont know if you are taking iron at all - just know most people do need it.  So if you do make sure you take enough and the right type so it does give you diarhea.  I think it is called Ester C (the bottle will say easy on the stomach or I get it from a company BioTech Pharmaceuticals - that is where I get almost all my vitamins) there C is called C Buff meaning Buffered and is easy on the stomach.

I also read that your protein bars have alot of sugar alcohol - that is a tough area - they bother some and not others - so have to go trial and error.  I couldnt eat bars cause all had nuts or peanut butter but I made great shakes or protein hot chocolate for like 45 grams so one drink per day was enough to supplement for the day back in the day when I couldnt get enough food.

I hope I helped you.  Check out Biotech Pharmaceutacals.  They  have the best vitamins - most are capsules which we absorb better - they have Dry D3 - 50,000,  if you need A - they have 25,000 (I used to take that dont need anymore) They have B2 - 400 , so take 4 times per week for 200 per day (help my migraines) and hundreds of other things.

good luck

Thank you. I did notice one of my protein bars has 11g of sugar alcohol. I will try not taking them one day and see what happens.

Bariatric advantage lozenges have no sugar alcohol and only gram of sugar. The cherry ones are really good. They also come in other flavors.  The chewies have 3grams of sugar alcohol which I dont' think is much and the raspberry ones are delicious.
