That's true-everytime I buy some clothes that actually fit people would notice my weight loss.

I really think if you are one of the people that loses the weight evenly all over, it is much more difficult to tell than when people seem to lose it all in their face, etc.  Buy some smaller clothes and remember why you're doing this.  50 pounds is awesome, congrats!

I recently told my neighbor I had the surgery and he admitted he noticed "something was different" but didn't want to say anything.  Turns out, he told my boyfriend he didn't want to say anything because he thought maybe I was sick and dealing with something major, so he didn't want to make me feel bad.  I never thought of that scenario till then.  Then there's the other lady down the street that told me my face was so much prettier now...guess you can't win..lol!

DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED!!!!!   It took people a long time to notice my weight loss... Go out and treat yourself to a new shirt or pants that are tighter than what you are currently wearing and then wear it... You will be hearing comments all day long.. Trust me...

Everytime I wear clothes that are tighter and fit better.. I never hear the end of it... The problem was, I had a lot of trouble parting with my old clothes and wore them till they were just way too big.. Then found clothes that fit better and each time I went through smaller clothes, I would hear from everyone, about how much different I looked. LOL..

Keep up your efforts and dont you dare lose heart, because you are not hearing compliments yet... Trust me they will come and you will be overwhelmed by how many you get too!!

Congratulations on your success!!! Feels good doesnt it!!!  Smile!!

While people notice that I have lost alot of weight at this point, nobody can believe that I have lost 102 lbs.  My friends say, "You couldn't have had that much weight to lose.  You weren't that big."

Just hang in there.   The difference will be apparent very soon, especially when you start wearing smaller clothes.

Because I am such a "lightweight" and also pre-op ****il Oct 25th!) I find myself defensive about even pursuing the surgery route! I have yo-yo ed so many times in the past 6 years that I am actually hoping everybody leaves me alone to do my "thing"! Don't get me wrong, I WANT to look good, and wear nicer things, I myself just don't crave adulation (Especially in this small community, cuz where there are compliments, there will also be criticism).... Depending on where one begins weight wise, there is a certain amt. of weight loss you have to achieve before people will "notice". For me, it should be around 25-30#. For you, it will be pretty much anytime now. Be prepared :))

Kiminey,

I agree that if you have less to lose, a loss of 30 lbs would be more noticable than someone who has more to lose.

Also do no  be reluctant about pursuing this avenue.  I am 59 and prior to the surgery had been overweight for 59 years.  My first diet was at the age of 8 when I weighed 135 lbs (hhmmm, less than three pounds less than I weigh now).  And believe me in all these years (elementary school, junior high, high school, graduate school, law school, etc., etc., etc.) I have been on every diet ever know to man.

So do your thing!  I hope that the surgery will change your life as it has changed mine.

This guy I worked with finally noticed and said, "you look like you've lost a couple of pounds".  Yeah, about SEVENTY FIVE of them, dumbass!  Now he and others tell me routinely that I look really good.  No one really noticed until I had about 50 lbs gone.  Others noticed at 75 to 100.  Amazing.

YOU notice and that's really the only thing that matters.

Somehow I doubt that you've gone through all this trouble for them.  *smile*

I have lost just over 60 pounds and was feeling the same way...the only people who have commented to me are people who know I had the surgery...then yesturday my daughter was at ice skating and when she came off the ice she looked at me funny and said I didn't recognize you!!!! She said she saw me from the side and I looked like a different person!!! I never felt so good in my life!!
