Dr. prescribed  it to my husband at an Urgent Care facility (strep throat) but the Dr. who was about 12 seemed clueless about RNY safe medicines.  I figured I was ask the experts so I came here.

RNY on 06/08/09 with
YES! As long as your not allergic to it. As far as what you need to avoid it's NSAIDs and Aspirin. They promote ulcers much faster and worse than for normal people. That said you can take an occasional dose, it's long term/regular use that's a problem.

Sure.

You'll find that most docs are clueless about RNY.  'Tis best for you to know what you can have before you even walk through the door.

I had a rough experience with Cipro. I had a bad cut, and was prescribed Cipro to prevent infection. It ended up giving me 7 days of almost terminal diarrhea, and nothing in my diet or supplements had changed. Next time I went to Urgent Care for an issue, I told the doc about that bad experience. He gave me Bactrim and I had no diarrhea issues with it.  Some people may have allergies to it--it seems to me to be a sulfa drug allergy from what I remember from a post some time ago. DAVE

Im allergic to cipro and bactrim. Was prescribed Bactrim 2 weeks ago for a kidney infection and it made my lips numb and Lisa Rinnaish so I'd ask the dr first
