I had surgery 2-14 and have got them twice. Both times where baseball days so 6 hours we are away. I could only take 3 to 4 small bites of them and was full. I am not a huge fan of them but did not have any other option.

When I had my first surgery in 2002 we were encouraged to eat Taco Bell pintos and cheese as a good choice. I always got them without the red sauce though. I hate that sauce. The fact is there are going to be times that we aren't able to get home for a meal and aren't as well prepared as we could be and those are a godsend for those times, as are the prepared salads and other good choices at some fast food places. Or we may be out with other people and not have any real choice on where we are going to eat.
Last night my kids wanted to go out to celebrate my oldest daugther's marriage and they choose a pizza buffet. Not where I wanted to go but I was out numbered 5 to 1. Besides, why should I impose my choices on others? I ate my share and then some of fast food and buffet foods. No one forced one bite in my mouth. I take responsiblity for what I ate then and what I eat now. I firmly believe there is something I can eat no matter where I go. Last night I had a chicken thigh without the skin and some grilled vegetables. I made the choice to have surgery, no one else in my family did and why should they cater to my needs, especially when it is possible for me to get something to eat just about anywhere I go? And I have a strict post op diet. I don't eat anything with any sugar or wheat or any refined carbs or anything fried. I haven't yet found a place I can't find something healthy to eat. We went to a chinese restaurant a while ago and I just order steamed chicken and vegetables with sauce on the side.
I am not afraid of food or eating out or fast food. That is not what I signed up for. I live in the real world and I need to be able to eat in this world. I do not choose to only eat at my home where it is safe and I can control what is in my food. I choose to go out to parties and restaurants and even *gasp* fast food places, all without fear, because I choose what goes into my mouth.

Hi Tazz, thank you! Just because we had the surgery does not mean we have to be "Aliens". I didnt agree with this one person on here because she in fact tried to bash me on here cause I asked a simple questions about the Tco Bell pintos & cheese. I do not tell ANYONE what to eat or how to eat or when. We all did the surgery for obvious reasons and we are all different. The beans I WAS TOLD IN FACT BY MY SURGEON while in the hospital, are a great idea. Not just a GOOD idea but a GREAT one, so why wouldnt I take advice from my own surgeon??  I clearly explained in the post I will not eat them right now especialy being 1 week out, (I really am not stupid of course lol) but as time progresses I may. But then again who knows if I will even like them anymore?  I got my head chewed off in the previous comments by her and Im like WOW how can someone who dont even know me or about me bash me on here? She is the only one who said No to it. She was blaintent (misspelled I know) as well. But this is me, my body, my CHOICE, and Im not going to be outcasted or think I cant eat something healthy when I take my 3 children out.

I appreciate your comment!
