Wendy's Chili
I know that chili was on my pureed list, but as long as you puree it. I worked at Wendys way back in the day and I know what goes into it. There are a lot of unecessary calories in it, so I would recomment getting the recipe and making it at home. Then you can freeze, puree, or do whatever you'd like with it. But you could also substitute the beef for ground turkey and skip out on some of the fat.
Here are my thoughts...4+ years out. Wendy's Chili is great for those who don't cook. Fast, on the go people love it. The major issue is meat post op RNY. You will find out that you have to test everything with the pouch. You wait a few minutes...get approval from the pouch to proceed. THE POUCH RULES!! Make no mistake about it...You will know what I mean post op. When you test new things...test them at home. Also somethings your pouch rejects early on can be eaten later...A few months down the road. Beef is usually harder to digest than chicken, turkey, or fish (tuna). Therefore you should wait for a little over a month to try chili with meat. Pork is even tougher to digest. For me post op it never really sits well in the pouch. I will eat it, but again...never sits well. You may want to try some lean steak post op a month out at home...chewed well (very small amount)...to puree texture...If it sits ok, then look at Wendy's Chili. Brian
I had my first post-op bowl of Wendy's chili at 4 weeks and haven't looked back since.
One of my favorite meais... I can get the small and have enough left for 2 meals. I love chili with eggs so lots of times I will make an Egg Beaters omlette and use left-over Wendy's chili for the omlette filling. YUMMY!
Take Care!
