I begin the presurgical diet tomorrow. I cannot believe I am finally 2 weeks away to surgery!!

I also meet with the Anesthesiologist tomorrow. Weigh in, too. I am not worried as I have been loosing weight to prepare for the surgery.

What can I expect? I have read where the first 4 days are the worst....is that true? I am worried I will be hungry all the time. How did you get through this?

Thanks for all your help.

I didn't have to do a pre-op diet (other than my six month supervised diet) so I can't say how it is

But during the tough times in my six month diet I would look at the pre-post pictures, read posts here (I even found some of my favorite posters then looked back in time to see what they posted about when they were new-ops or pre-ops) .... I would make all kinsd of recipes from posts here and blogs, and read read read all the time.

Keeping my eye on the prize helped me get through it.. Just think.... you hae two weeks.... I had six months with no guarantee of insurance approval at the end (I didn't meet all their criteria). It could be worse!

thanks Lady Lithia.....I read your posts often.....you have a lot to offer all of us....especially the newbies......I realize how fortunate I am. My insurance only required 3 months at a Bariatric Center, since it met the criteria for Centers of Excellence, otherwise it would have been 6 months.....I have been at this over a year with a set back with emergency back surgery. Sidetracked with other obstacles......but not defeated!!

You are right: keeping my eye on the prize, and before I know it, 2 weeks will pass by quickly.

Thanks so much!

What does it entail?  Is it all liquids?  Mine was one week and I am not going to sugar coat it - it was hard.  But I lost 18 pds in that week!  Just know there is an end in sight and find other stuff to keep you busy.  You will be hungry and you will probably have a melltdown at some point.  But that's all part of it.

Hang in there and in 2 weeks we will see you on the losers bench!

I didn't have a pre op diet except for the day before surgery-it was clear liquids. However, AFTER surgery was very hard for me. The first few days I have no appetite at all so I didn't care but after that, I wanted everything I couldn't have. It took ALOT of strength to get through that. I prayed alot lol. I kept thinking of how wonderful it's going to be when the weight comes off. Do anything to pass the time. Stay away from the kitchen!

You can do it!

It's really not that bad. I had two weeks of protein shakes, broth and sugar free jello (yeach!), but I lost something close to 20lbs. AND my surgery went smoothly - apparently my liver didn't get in the way.

Good luck to you! I'm sure you'll do great!
