2 week presurgical diet starts tomorrow! Can I do this?
You can do it. The Pre op diet was 2 weeks for me too, it didnt entail of just liquids, it was just be cool on the fats, and crap so my liver can shrink, then the last 2 days of it, was liquids. This is the easy part. Post Op is the hardest in my opinion. I am 3 weeks out and cause of complications, I must still be on liquids. You can do just stay positive!
you CAN do it! I am on day 6 of my 2 week preop diet and I can't believe how much will power i have! I drink 3 protein shakes a day and have one low fat meal at dinner of either a lean cuisine type, or 3 ozs lean meat, fish, poultry and a veg. I must admit i totally look forward to dinner! I've lost 9 pounds so far, and I know that in the end I will be having the surgery that will change my life forever. It's hard, but stay busy and get some exercising in. Look to your near future and it will so worth it! Good luck!
I started my pre-op diet 5 days ago. I thought I would struggle but have been fine. I actually have a hard time getting the 5 shakes in my day. I am on protein shakes and jello...the jello really helps with the mind thing of putting a spoon to your mouth...(for me). I go to be pre-op appiontment today so we will see how things are going. Surgery in 9 days...so completely excited...You can do this. Be strong....stay positive. I look to this site for motivation and advice. I love the before and after pictures. See ya on the losers bench soon!
Thank you ALL for your feedback and support!!! It means so much and I really appreciate it and I do find that I need it at this point......I am torn in that I want this so badly, but now, I feel like I am at the point of no return....and that is OK......I just am mentally adjusting to all this.......
As much as you think you prepare (just like having your first child), you just have no idea until you LIVE IT.....
I will come back often to check in because I am finding this site is my life-line at times. When you can talk to no one because they aren't going thru this, do not understand the range of emotions that go along with this, and in fact, it is a loss that you have to go through to gain so much more on the other end (God willing!), it is nice to know others are out there........
And sometimes you read just what you need to "hear" when someone posts their experience, someone you can relate to.....
Again, Thanks!
Stacey

Hi Stacey,
I too am on the two week diet, my surgery is this Thursday and I've been on the 3 protein shakes and one low carb, high protein meal a day. I've lost 12 pounds so far and it gets easier after about the 3rd day. Drink lots of water and that really helps when your hungry along with the sf jello. I check this site everyday and read the post. It has been a life line to me also. For reasons related to my job I could only tell my children and a close friend about my surgery, so this really has been my support group. Thanks everyone for sharing your lives and experiences with us.
