Bring extra underwear and menstrual pads to the hospital. Their stuff sucks and many, many women get their period right after surgery.

Also, bring a robe and slip on, non-slip slippers for walking around -- which you have to do to prevent blood clots.

Oh - and any personal grooming items you need for a shower.

I am 10 days post op.

I didn't do anything in the hospital but sleep and walk. One book would probably be fine if you have to stay an extra day like I did. The extra day was boring but I watched t.v.

My suppose to be 2 days in the hospital ended up being 5 days and they wouldn't allow me to shower because of my drain and IV. I did sponge bathe everyday but I wasn't allowed to wash my hair (SO GROSS!!!) so my mom brought me some dry shampoo that you spray in your hair. Not as good as a wash but it helped some. My hair gets greasy if I don't wa**** everyday. Also, I was one of the lucky ones who was on my period during surgery. I brought along baby wipes and was sooo glad I did. I have a Nook and brought it with me but never opened it and now I've been home for 5 days and still haven't had the energy to turn it on and read yet. I love my Nook and think everyone should have one BUT... don't rush out and get it just for this occassion because chances are you won't use it. Good luck!!!
